    Paula's Mistake

    Did you catch it?

Here's a summary of what happened:

Ryan Seacrest announced at the top of the show that the contestants would sing 2 songs and the judges would critique AFTER the second performance. Then, after all of the contestants sang their FIRST song - they were brought out on stage and the judges were asked to give a few, quick thoughts about the first round. Paula Abdul said this about Jason Castro:

"Jason, first song - I loved hearing your lower register, which we never hear. Second song, I felt like your charm was missing for me - made me feel a little empty. The 2 songs made me feel like you're not fighting hard enough to get into the top four."

Here's the problem: Jason only performed ONE song - so he was basically being critiqued for a song he hadn't performed yet. Abdul says she got confused - by looking ahead at the notes she made for David Cook - however, Abdul then said she "liked" Cook's performance - which contradicts her earlier words.

What do you think about this faux pas? Does Idol have some explaining to do? Or is this just a simple mistake? Let's hear your thoughts....

I think it is funny.  Everyone knows that Paula is a little confused sometimes and I really think that it was an honest mistake.  I'm sure she watched the rehearsals and was going off of that.  I hope, if not, the show just lost a lot of cred.

    Re: Paula's Mistake

Personally I think that she made notes a head of time assuming that he would not do any better than the first one and then wasn't listening very closely to Ryan when he asked them to give a review of the FIRST song.  Yes, she did contradict herself because it was obvious that David Cood did a fantastic job.  Yes...I'm a David Cook fan!!!

    Re: Paula's Mistake

Paula is oftened confused...wonder what else is in the Coca-Cola cups?  All along I've kinda thought this show was rigged, and they've already chosen their idol.  They just mix things up to keep viewers and ratings.  Let's see if Boo Hoo Brooke will make her long awaited exit tonight.

I have thought from the beginning it was pre- decided who would win, I feel this was no mistake, the scripts were written in advance, and juiced up a little when the verdict is delivered. I know several times it seemed almost impossible for a contestant to lose because of being wildly supported as a favorite, but they lost, I don't watch, just a popularity contest, and for the purpose of promoting the career of one pre- selected contestant, have better things to do.

    Re: Paula's Mistake

Who cares really? Everyone makes mistakes, granted Paula makes more than others, but bless her heart... she tries! I do think Idol is a popularity contest, why else would Jason Castro still be there. All the teen girls think he's "hot" that is why he's still there IMO!

I think David Cook will win he's the best out of all of them!

    Re: Paula's Mistake

She is a lush, I know Coke and Ford are sponsers but I think she mixes some Jack in with her Coke.   She must have some really good "back stage" talents to keep her job.  What a brainless twit.
