    Are you into running?

Are there any runners out there?  What are the benefits?  What do you enjoy about it?  What do you do if the weather is bad?

My cousin-in-law is a runner, or was until she got pregnant.  She started running after her second child and has completed 2 half marathons and a full marathon.  She really enjoyed it.  She started runnning with the folks at Fleet Feet, they got her going on a slow program and worked her up to the marathon.  She did it to get back into shape and she loved it.  I'll ask her about the what they did when the weather got bad.

Dress warm, choose things you can remove as you run, and are easy to carry, and the benefits are many, however, you can also damage your knees and ankles, I enjoyed the solitude, the time to think, listen to music, see neighborhoods I normally drove through so quickly I didn't really see things. Don't run anymore, haven't for about 5 years, wish I still could, it is a great stress reducer, and it is fun to watch the fat literally fall off your body.

    Re: Are you into running?

I ran up until about 4 years ago. I really enjoyed it, it was very relaxing. I couldn't run to save my life now!!

When the weather was bad, I ran at the gym. They had a inside track. If not I would just walk on the treadmill. I was never one to "run" on a treadmill. For some reason I always felt like I was going to going flying off. ha ha...

Yes, running on a treadmill takes some getting used to, never cared for it, always made my legs ache, I think I was tense because I was nervous and that may have been why. Always liked to run where as few people as possible saw me if I took a sudden spill, it happened from time to time, I wasn't graceful.

    Re: Are you into running?

I have seen people running on the treadmills at the HZ and wondered how they did it.  I almost fall off just walking.  Same with the ellipticals.  How do you run on those?

We have been asked to join Chera (I think) running in the Route 66 marathon in November.  Just the last few (3 or so) miles.  To go from non-running to running in a marathon seems to be quite the daunting challenge.  I think we are going to try it and see how far we get.  Got to get some good shoes, first!

I love swimming.  Can you swim now, since you can't run?  Swimming gives you the same benifits without the impact.

Oh, I can still run "if I wanted too" its just so hard to get back into it. You can still run when your preg. I will for sure start back running after I have the baby, I have told myself I have to get back in shape and try to knock out this Diabetes stuff. Its not going to get me....

I haven't been swimming since I was little. I used to love to swim thou. It was SO fun. I am very shy so I dont like being around people in a bathing suite. Which is dumb, because when I look back on pictures, there was Nothing wrong with the way I looked. I think I am just very self conscious.

    How often do you swim?

I used to swim 3 miles two or three days a week.  Several years ago.  I haven't been back into it in over two years.  I am tryinig to find the time now.  Talking myself into the swimsuit is the big issue, I think.  That and shaving the legs.

Yeah, that's me too. The whole swim suite thing. I would prob love to swim if I had my own private pool. Oh, and the whole having to shave thing..."Hate that too" ha ha..I am right there with you. I know you are working hard on this eating healthy and exercising, keep it up and no time at all you will be back in a swim suite. We all have faith in you and your family....Keep up the good work!!
