    Drug Task Force cut

The drug task force for Tulsa County was cut down to only two cops, in the past 10 months they made 145 arrests, 379 drug charges, and seized $366,000 in drug money. Now if anything should be cut in  Tulsa county it IS NOT our drug task force!  What is going to happen to the money they seized, why can't they use that to help finance the task force? . The only law enforcement here who is doing a da*n thing as far as I can see, and they cut them for lack of funding, guess statues and stadiums are just more important!  What does this task force have to do to prove their worthiness.....leap tall buildings at a single bound. Now everyone can go on line and google how to manufacture Meth, Crank and Crack, there are only two officers out there standing between you and lots of $$$. I hear there are some abandoned warehouses downtown around 4th and Denver that would be ideal for drug manufacturing purposes, no rent,  TPD offers very little resistance, just tear down the door or go in through a window, and get busy!

You may have answered your own question.
Federal grant money is there for short-term use.  In most cases, it's to generate awareness and isnt meant to be a foundation on which to build anything on.
In the case of the DTF, it was successful in generating the intended publicity, but failed in becoming a funding priority to continue on.  That would have taken money away from city programs like regular police and fire, and given the long-term success in the overall "war on drugs" the trade off just wasnt worth it.

There's already a thread on this at   http://community.fox23.com/forums/thread/2811813.aspx
