Can you pass the 8th. grade exam? DUH!!

These were some of the Exams given to the 8th. graders in 1895, how well can you do? I only put a few on here.. (GRAMMAR test.) 1. Give nine rules for the use of capital letters.  2. Name the parts of speech and define those that have no modifications.  3. Define verse, stanza and paragraph.  4. What are the principle parts of a verb? Give principle of "lie," "play," and "run."  5. Define case; illustrate case.  6-10. Write a composition of about 150 words and show therein that you understand the practical use of the rules of grammar.  (ARITHMETIC)  1. Name and define the fundamental Rules of Arithmetic.  2. A wagon box is 2 feet. deep, 10 feet. long, and 3 feet wide. How many bushels of wheat will it hold?  3. If a load of wheat weights 3,942 pounds, what is it worth at 50 cts/bushel, deducting 1,050 lbs. for tare? 4. What is the cost of 40 boards 12 inches wide and 16 feet long at $20. per metre?  (ORTHOGRAPHY) [Do we even know what this is?] 1. What is meant by the following: alphabet, phonetic, orthography, etymology, syllabication?  2. What are the following, and give examples of each: trigraph, subvocals, diphthong, cognate letters, linguals?  3. Define the following prefixes and use in connection with a word: bi, dis, mis, pre, semi, post, non, inter, mono, sup.  note: this just shows you how poor our education system has become..  I just wanted to give you an example of how the teachers of the 20th. century are SCREAMING for more pay. (for what?) , to teach our children to be morons, instead of intellectual humans, that can find a job outside of the poverty lines..  How many of you know all of the answers to these few questions from an Exan done in 1895?  (cricket)

Tongue TiedCan't say that I seen it, but it doesn't surprise me in the least, since ball players finished school and couldn't read, since they made money for their schools..+(cricket)
