Everyone has a story to tell about how they got their favorite job, or that boss that just drove them nuts, or even the story about being discriminated against because [fill in the blank].
What about you?

Re: What's your job story?
I worked for Cingular Wireless about 71/2 yrs ago. I loved my job, I was one of the first classes that started when they first became Cingular Wireless. I moved up quickly into the tech dept. and Office of the President, which handled all the escalated calls, complaints all of these were from NY.
So, anyways. Our Dept took over all the calls from NY's call center, with that we got a few new people from NY, CT because they closed that call center down. The supervisor that we got used to be a NY City Police officer. He was a crazy/ trip. Real strong east coast NY accent. He wwas sexually harrasing a lot of the woman on our team not to mention a lot of the other woman in the call center. Myself, he would call me to his desk, once I walked up to him he would then say walk back and then walk back to me so I could picture you in red spiked heals and something sexy on.... YES, he was like this to all the women, come to find out one woman had enough. She reported it. He was let go that day. They pulled so many woman into the main office and we had to tell them what all he said, when he said it, how many times he said it. It was sad on his part. He was married with a daughter. He had moved them all the way down here from NY. Can you believe the nerve of him????
Last I heard he is working for the Drivers license place in Jenks.........

Re: What's your job story?
I worked for my last employer for 4 years, I was in a location which caused me to develope allergic asthma because of the environment. I was told first by my primary physican that I needed to change locations or quit and find another place to work. So I began submitting internal transfer requests to jobs I knew I had the skills for, but was turned down again and again without an interview, testing or even consideration for any other position. I began missing work because of my condition, I was sent to an allergist, who also said I had to stop working in that location or I could die. After submitting the letters from both my PC physican and Allergist, I again requested internal transfer, still being turned down time after time without consideration. In desperation I began applying for work outside, my boss began writing me up for doing that, saying he did'nt want me to leave, all the while instructing my co-workers to watch me and make detailed reports to him of anything I did which I could be written up for.Every day when I went to work, I never knew what to expect. I was put on mini "trial" again and again for things I did'nt do, finally went to HR for help, they investigated for several months, then wrote a letter to me saying I would be disciplined if I continued to "disrespect" my boss. This disrespect being the request for help, and report of the situation I had made to HR. Finally, my doctors just removed me from the job and would not let me return. I was off work for several months, and received a letter saying if I did not return to my job immediately I would be terminated. I had filed FMLA but had no sick or vacation time so I was not being paid, I wrote back and said I did not want to lose my job, but my doctors would not let me go back, so I was placed in a clean environment for 6 months, and my condition improved, I did well on the job and enjoyed it. Then at the end of 6 months, a letter arrived saying I could no longer work where I was, but would have to return to the first location or be terminated. Long story short, I was terminated. With this I lost my income, my insurance, and my health. It was nightmare hard to shake and which lasted for 3 years!

Re: What's your job story?
I remember him MrsPR! He was a jerk! I couldn't believe he got a house here then turned around and got fired. What a *****. You most likely know my boyfriend Morgan. He may have been in your class. He was a tech upstairs then moved to McCloud USA about 6 years ago. He was the "go to" guy at Cingular but, that place is a dead end job so there wasn't any reason to stay.
Best job ever is the one I have now at PSO. They ROCK! This will be my third year with them
Worst job ever was Southwestern Bell. That place will suck out your soul.

HOW FUNNY, MORGAN!!! Yes, I remember him..I remember when he met you. He was so excited and was talking about you all the time. He would show us pictures of you. He was such a sweetheart. Yes, he was in my class. We moved to Spec Ops together. I assume Morgan told you about the old boss!! Wont say any names on here.
I am glad you like PSO, I applied there awhile back. They called me after I had already found a job though. I know now why you talk about the Ebonic's. Hey tell Morgan I said hello!!!
I have heard of McCloud. I have dont know anyone that works there, yeah I haven't heard any good things about Southwestern Bell. Good thing you got out of there.
I left Cingular a few months after the old boss got fired. I had gotten really sick. I really liked it there. It was ok at that age and time in my life.
I went back to school after that and went into the Dental field.
This is crazy "Small World"

Re: What's your job story?
How cool, you have the sexist a****le in common! My most fun job was at TU, the people I worked with were so outlandish and crazy, my boss had a problem with promoting women though, and the pay was not good. Would have been worth the low pay if it had held any promise of ever going higher, alas..I knew it was a dead end, but still hated to leave my co-workers and move on .Although, I enjoyed being in the USMC too, it was fun for 16 of every 24 hours, the 8 I worked was.....eeeh ....OK. Maybe I will find another one that is enjoyable and good pay....or start my own business....something lucrative and fun.......that would be nice, No? Oh, forgot to tell you, my ex-husband was working for Southwestern Bell when I met him, he mostly liked it, was a cable splicer so he was outside all the time, traveled around and did'nt have to see his boss much. Guess it depends on what job you are doing wherever you work.

Re: What's your job story?
The best job I had was when I turned 18. I went to work for an oil company as an equipment and material reconciliation manager. Basically my job was to go to each holding yard and job sight and confirm what was being supplied for the job and what equipment was needed to complete a job. From the age of 18 to 21 I was able to travel the world, go to college, and have some of the best times of my life. Oil biz went belly up and that was the end of the party. I had to continue my travels with the Navy for the next 20 years. From one great job to another folks I have Zero complaints.....

Re: What's your job story?
I worked for cingular for three years but it was after you left. Morgan told me about him but it was after we had gone to his house for a picnic! He came home one day and told me all the stuff he'd been saying to the girls up there. He was so shocked at how blatant he was with it. The guy didn't even say the comments quietly. I had met Morgan a few years before that. He had been living with me in Tulsa for about a year when he went to Cingular. Glad to see you got out of there and went on to something cool! :)

Re: What's your job story?
My favorite job was working for a major internet company in N.Y. Run by Xao-Lin. After 60 days of working for him he would drop a T1 into your house. He was an awesome boss as long as you worked hard for him. He would buy you all high tech stuff for your own personal use. What was real fun was when he and his wife were upset with us. He was courteous and only talked in Chinese when he was having a bad day, but we knew we were in trouble. Xao-Lin: "din ong chi ung MIKE, li sum ding wo CHARLIE, eh song di wu wong ching, SUE". At this point the office would clear out on an early lunck break. I still keep in contact him and if I ever get better he still wants me to work for him.

Yes, he was very open about it. He didn't try to hide it at all. I am sure he hasn't changed a bit. For his sake and his families, I hope he has.
My ex at that time was a Farmers Insurance agent, we went to the "old bosses house" to sale him insurance, yeah.....It was weird. I think he was Italian. Very cocky.
I guess I am not sure about the time you and Morgan got together. I just remember him telling us about you. He was always talking about you. He seemed very happy with you.
You are right about him being the go to man up there, he was the brains in Spec Ops. Well, I am glad you guys are doing good. I'm glad to know we somewhat have something in common.

Re: What's your job story?
We are having the time of our lives! :) This year will be 10 years for us! He's an awesome man.
Speaking of jobs, everyone... PSO is going to be hiring again. They are using a new method this time for the process. I will try to find out more and let you all know. They usually post it on their website aep.com and sometimes they advertise it in the paper. They only hire twice a year so you have to get while the getting is good!

Good I am really glad to hear that, you will have to tell him I said hi. HE should know who I am, I was the only Puerto Rican that was in his class and in Spec Ops together. I had long brown hair. If he doesn't remember I can send you a private email and I will tell you my name.
Man, I sure wished I could come work up there. I am afraid no one will hire me right now since I am 4 1/2 months preg.....Too bad for me. I lost my job when that ice storm came. I was working for a new Dentists office, they had only been open for 6 months, then the storm closed them for a week, needless to say they lost a lot of money, there for they had to loose me. I was the last one to be hired. Of course it was a very small office. SO I am kind of stuck right now. I have been on 6 interviews, as soon as people see my stomach....They dont call back.

Re: What's your job story?
They will hire you anyway! Not only that, your insurance with them starts your first day! The last three classes have had pregnant women in them and one of them had her baby right out of training and is still there. It is such a good company to work for. It is SO worth it.
