Well, Friday night after seeing a movie we went back to JooJooBees for dinner. When we got there the restaurant was not very busy at all. The lady who greeted us sat us down at a table for two, but my husband wanted to sit near the window since it was such a clear night - we could look at the lights outside and enjoy the view. No one else was even near us ... Then a waitress came and asked us to move because a party of 16 was coming and they needed that area. She said they didn't realize they were coming... sooooo ... we moved and ended up at a table in the corner that was directly under a spotlight close to the windows, but not cozy like the one we had been at before. I was a bit disappointed and felt a bit invisible and less important as a patron than the "party of 16", but shrugged it off and ordered some hot chocolate and my husband ordered some hot tea. By the way, that party of 16 never showed up. About 30 minutes after we moved 8 people showed up and could have been seated anywhere.
We both ordered the same entree - the meatloaf with mashed potatos, gravy, and veggies. It came in due time (not too long a wait) and my husband dove into his meal. I began to do likewise but noticed something that didn't belong on my plate. I turned the plate towards my husband so I could ask him what he thought it was and sure enough it was a small hair sticking out of the edge of my mashed potatos. Stuff happens sometimes .... soooooooo ... the waitress was very nice about it and took my plate and let me know a new entree was being prepared for me. During the wait, I got to sample some of the meatloaf off my husbands plate. Shortly thereafter, fresh hot bread arrived, which I scarfed down to quiet the rumbles in my stomach. I love fresh baked bread and this was good.
My replacement plate of food arrived just as my husband was finishing up his dinner. The meatloaf had a hint of Italian sausage in it and a slight sweet taste to it. The veggies were great, too, but I wasn't a fan of the mashed potatos at all. They were a bit thin and had no seasoning in them at all ... a bit watery tasting to me even though the gravy poured over them was good, it didn't help the taste of the potatos at all.
The service was good, and the food was presented in as appealing way. They have other food there we would like to try, so we may go back despite this last visit being less than perfect.
