Sunday we were on the prowl for a new place to have lunch. We ended up at Utica Square circling the area to see what we might find. We ended up at P.F. Chang's. What a pleasant surprise! I had the Almond and Cashew Chicken and my spouse had the Beef Short Ribs with Pineapple Rice. We share with each other and I have to tell you both were VERY GOOD! I do have to take my hat off to the Beef Short Ribs with Pineapple Rice, though. When I took a bite of the short ribs, I couldn't help by say "OMG! That is amazing!" Next time I go, I'm getting the short ribs! LOL

Way to Go, P.F. Chang's!!!! We will be coming back over and over again... I'd also like to say a big thank you to our waitress, Kira. She gave us top notch service. :)

I'd like to add that the servings there are very generous. You could order 1 entree and share it between 2 people. Add a side dish with that, and you have plenty for 2. Add a desert, and you have a meal that will satisfy you and make you want to come back very soon.

Fuji Japanese Cuisine

My daughter and I went to eat Sushi last night at Fuji's at 37th & Peoria. I really enjoy going there because the atmosphere is nice, it isn't very noisy, and I don't believe I've ever had to wait for a table. Our waiter, Dillon, was polite and prompt from the beginning of the evening til it came time for the bringing us the check. For our meal we had the Gyoza appetizer which was very tastey, and I had a side salad along with the appetizer. For our Sushi rolls we ordered the Al Roll and the Brookside roll (Huy Roll). I usually end up ordering something along the lines of a Volcano roll, but thought I'd try something different this time, and I wasn't disappointed. Both were very good.

Thanks to Fuji restaurant for a nice evening and very tastey meal that comes with excellent service. I will be going back often and I do recommend trying the Brookside roll especially!

Best Chinese Food

In my opinion, the best Chinese food in Tulsa. The only Chinese food place I'll mess with anymore. Friendly people, simply the best food, and they give you a lot of it. No greasy rice in a paper box. Real food, real plates, real service. Its awesome.

Golden Gate Restaurant, 2620 S. Harvard.

I recommend the cashew chicken. And the fried oysters. Damn good eatin'.

Chili's

We went to the new Chili's restaurant up on 71st street and hwy 75 today for lunch. We called ahead and were seated very quickly. It was our third visit this time and we went there again because we like the variety on the menu. Only today, our order got messed up. The problem with that is our 2 adult children had to be at work at a specific time and we really didn't have the luxury of waiting for our meals because the order was messed up, BUT the waitress, Amber, already knew they had to be to work and was on top of the situation. She managed to get our meals out before the kids had to be to work and did a top job on waiting on us despite the order mix-up problem.

oh.. the food was great, too! This particular Chili's is new and is still getting it's feet wet working out the glitches of being a new restaurant with new staff and all, but I think we'll go back a 4th and 5th and 6th time because each time we've been the food has been good, the atmosphere is family oriented, and the menu has so many different items on it, that it's going to take more trips just to try it all! :)

Great Sushi

I've seen no mention of my favorite sushi place Sushi Train...it's at 51st and Harvard. It's great because there's a round counter and a train goes around it pulling flat cars with plates of sushi on them. You can order full rolls and such off the menu, or pull off the train where you can get like half a roll or just 3 or 4 portions. The plates are color coded priced. Staff is friendly as well. It's one of my favorite places to eat...

Ale Haus

Tonight we went to a new restaurant at the River Walk called the Ale Haus. It is European food with a Pub atmosphere. I had the soup and sandwich combo and really enjoyed it. The soup was an almost classic Irish Stew with a very savory beef base. The soup had huge tender chunks of beef in it, which I can honestly say far surpassed other stews I've had elsewhere in town. I loved the full flavor of the stew, too. My sandwich was also very good, plus we sampled their mushrooms that were stuffed with corned beef! Unusual appetizer, but we enjoyed every bite.

I must say the atmosphere was pleasant and our server, Austin, gave us excellent service and was always there to give us whatever we needed even before we would think to ask for it. The prices are reasonable, and the Creme Brulee with strawberry garnish we had for desert was phenomenal. All in all a very nice place to have a quiet meal without the noise that some restaurants provide patrons these days. Give it a try! We enjoyed it alot.

Best Italian Food this side of Tuscany

I hope you all have been to Petes Italian Cafe. If you haven't you should make it a real priority to do so, you will not be sorry. Yeah it is a longish ride, gas is high, but I would walk there on my bare knees on the asphalt in July to eat there, and Italian Food isn't even my favorite type of international food, plus it gives me heartburn almost every time I eat anything Italian. But still........YUM

Arizona Mexican is THE best Mexican place in Tulsa. There are three locations but the best one by far is the one at 81st and Aspen. I've been eating here on a weekly basis for the past 4 years and I've never got bad service, nor have I ever had to send a plate back. Absolutely hands down the best!!!

5 & Diner - again!

Today I ate at the 5 & Diner at 36th and Memorial. I just happened to arrive there later than my usual lunch time, too. It was packed! I didn't have to wait but like 2 minutes for a booth by the window and just at a spot where I could see everything going on. Since it was so busy it took a bit longer for me to get my order, but I really didn't notice or care because I was just enjoying watching everything going on. I was listening to the juke box at my table, which I really enjoy, and I began to notice the waitresses and how they interacted with each other and the cooks, management, and busboy. It was like a well oiled machine the way everyone functioned - back and forth, taking orders, picking them up and waiting on customers other needs. Even the busboy was on top of everything. When people left I dare say it was more than a minute or two before the table was cleaned off and ready for the next customer. Even the counter where they have stools for customers was served and cleaned up like clock work.

I noticed one thing that I don't notice very often in restaurants and that is the waitresses smiled an aweful lot at each other, not just for the customers sake. To me it looked like they enjoyed their jobs, enjoyed working with each other, and enjoyed being a servant to their customers. I watched as they would go about their business, and even the manager was happy, efficient, and worked as hard as the people she was in charge of........ Sometimes, I think people just deserve to hear that they've done a great job, given a good impression, and make a difference to their customers.

Kudos to Paula at the 5 & Diner and all the staff who have done such a good job and worked so hard to provide us all with not just a good meal, but an interesting and fun environment. Keep up the good work.

Chipotles

Anybody tried chipoltes yet? They serve gigantic burritos, they are bigger than your head! It's like a subway but it's for Burritos. If anybody else has tried it please post a review.

I like the Steak Burrito with rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and hot sauce with fresh tomatoes.

5 & Diner

I just found a new place to eat lunch. It's called the "5 & Diner", and it's next door to the Harley store around 36th and Memorial. Today I had their BBQ Pork sandwich with cole slaw. It was so good, I had to bring a sample of it back to work to share with my co-worker. VERY GOOD bbq pork sandwich!

Last week when I ate there, I thought I was ordering a simple meatloaf sandwich. I couldn't believe what they brought me. It started out with a thick piece of toasted bread on the bottom. On top of that it has 2 slices of meatloaf with just enough meatloaf sauce on top to make your mouth water for more. On top of the meatloaf was a generous serving of homemade mashed potatos with the skin and seasoned perfectly. It had some crispy bacon added to it that made me want to eat every bite, but I had to force myself to use self-control and leave some on my plate. On top of the potatos was a mushroom gravy with large pieces of mushrooms. MMMMMMMMmmmMmm!!! That's not all! On top of that was stacked a generous portion of those fried onion strings.

Thank God I had some self control to not eat all of it. That dish is what brought me back to try yet another meal at the 5 & Diner. So far, I haven't eaten anything there that I wouldn't recommend.

GREAT MEXICAN FOOD. They have a buffet, all you do is tell them what you want and they will bring it to you. If you get enchiladas, be sure to get cheese sauce on them. I love this place and you can't beat the price.

It's located on 41st just east of 169 on the south side of the road. They are getting ready to open another in Catoosa soon.

Ruby Tuesdays

I went to Ruby Tuesdays today for lunch and had a pleasant surprise. They have several lunch specials of which I chose a salad bar and Quiche lunch special - it is VERY good. The salad bar has a variety of items on it and they are FRESH! Very tastey. My Quiche was home made on a flakey crust and it came with fresh sliced strawberries.

I'm definately going back soon.

They are supposed to have the best burgers in Oklahoma! My wife showed me this magazine with them in it and they are a top 20 in the Nation burger stand.

McAlister's Deli

... this one is on the corner of 71st and Lewis.

My family and I went there one Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was packed full of people having their Sunday meal. We finally got to order and found a seat and it seemed to take a long time to get our food. Suddenly, we were approached by the manager who told us that our meal was almost ready and he was sorry for it taking so long. That was nice of him... Shortly after that our food arrived and along with the food was an envelope and cash that was put on the table. The manager politely informed us that he had refunded our entire purchase price for all 4 of our meals, PLUS he has a nicely typed letter apologizing to us for the delay is receiving our food. At the end of this nice letter was an additional note notifying us that he had given us 4 additional free meals in the future.

WOW! I call that service with a little extra. We've been back 2 more times and will use the free meals on another Sunday when we go out for a family lunch.

Thanks for the great service, and thank you to the McAlister's Management team for being so thoughtful and going to the trouble of writing us a nice apology letter on letterhead stationery.

We have a tone of corporate restaurants all over the place churning out some good food but missing that family atmosphere. You know a place that when you walk in it seems like they all know you Does anybody have a favorite family restaurant they go to and where is it? What makes a great place to eat for you.

I've been stuck on Buffalo Wild Wings lately. On Thursdays they sell their plump boneless wings for .50 each. The burgers there are terrible but the wings are delightful. If you like your food with some hot and spicy flavor order the Mango Habenero or one of my personal favorites the HOT!!!

You won't be disapointed.

If you like tasty hamburgers with heaping fresh toppings you should try the Ron's Hamburgers at 81st and Harvard. I don't like the one in Broken Arrow because every time I go there the burgers are messy and not put together well. Pluse they don't give you much lettuce on your burger.

I ate lunch today at the 81st and Harvard location and it was really good. I ordered a Jumbo Hamburger with mayonaise, lettuce, tomato and what was cool is they offer raw and fried onions. I asked for both my co-worker ordered the Grilled Ranch Chicken Sandwich. It was a thick piece of chicken *** between two slices of buttered up texas toast, crumbled up bacon and shredded cheese melted all over it, it also comes with lettuce and a ripe slice of tomato. Ask for the Ranch on the side so you can dip the sandwich in it. WOW!

The guy on the grill even asked us how the food was, it's rare when a cook cares and asks if you like the food. And the best part was it was inexpensive.

Hint: If you are alone order a half order of fries/tots/rings because the full order is enough for 3 people.

I live outside of Tulsa about an hour. And although it may sound funny, Whataburger is my favorite place to eat there. They have really good food and great service. And my kids absolutely love their chicken. We make the drive almost every weekend just to eat there.

Hideaway Pizza

- at 15th between Peoria and Utica is off the beaten path. It's tucked away in a corner of Tulsa and quite the surprise. The dining area is very roomy and the atmosphere is not loud at all, but friendly and accommodating to both families, groups, or even the couple out on a date. They have a varied menu that is sure to please just about anyone.

If you like lots of cheese, try their lazagna. I haven't had any pizza there yet, but I can recommend their meatball sandwich and bistro salad. I enjoyed them both.

Even though they are tucked away in what looks like a small space, they have plenty of parking to meet the needs of a busy and full clientele.

Give it a try. I did, and was pleasantly surprised.

Carino's down by the River

After seeing a movie today we went to Carino's for dinner. The other place we were thinking of going had an hour wait, but Carino's only had a 10 minute wait. Carinos won this time. We both had the classic lazagna with a salad. Pretty good lazagna! mmMMmmm I thought desert sounded good for a change so we ordered a Canole. Oh boy ... I took 1 bite of it and was glad I tried something new. I had never had this desert before tonight. I would recommend it, for sure, to anyone who loves chocolate and cheesecake together.

We had a good visit to Carino's tonight, and we'll be back.

Re-discover Cracker Barrel

Today, I ate at Cracker Barrel because I wanted to try something different. I found something light on their menu, so I thought I'd try their home made chicken salad sandwich. It was really good, too. It had mayo, celery, onion, and sweet relish in it along with the chopped chicken. On the Sandwich it also had some sweet pickle slices, tomato, and lettuce. I had mine on a soft warm hamburger bun. The lunch came with fresh hot steak fries, which I love, and a small serving of cole slaw.

If you are tired of being served meals that are huge that you can never finish eating, this lunch I had was a perfect portion, in my opinion. I could eat all of it, but not feel stuffed and miserable. I even had room for their chocolate brownie desert that had hot fudge and vanilla ice cream on it. I have to admit that I have a weak spot for hot fudge and warm brownies!

It's been years since I wondered into a Cracker Barrel, but now that I've re-discovered what it has to offer, I'll be going back again, and probably soon, too! Their menu has enough to fill just about every whim my taste buds might want.......

Red Robin gourmet burgers

well....... tonight we had our first visit to Red Robins. It is really a family restaurant. Lot's of kids there having a great time with their families, and lots of balloons, too. I had the oriental salad and my husband had the fish and chips. I sampled the chips and they were fresh and tastey. My salad was really good, too. Kristin made sure our tea glasses never got close to being empty, and almost convinced us to get desert, but we were too full.

The only thing I might complain about was when one of those helium ballons the kids had POPPED all of a sudden! I 'bout nearly came out of my skin! Well ...the sound of a popping balloon hurts my ears, too. Other than that, Red Robin is a pretty neat place to go eat. Next time I hope no balloons pop near me, though.

Dinner at the Outback

It's been a while since I've been to the Outback, so we decided to go there for dinner tonite. We had the 'Shrooms appetizer, which was pretty good, and I had the Shrimp Griller for my main course. The shrimp were perfect and the potato, carrots, and rice were very tastey, too. I can't really say if my dates meal was good or not because I didn't taste any of it, so I'll just say my meal was very good. For desert we had something that had vanilla icecream and chocolate sauce on it. Ok ... I have to say that chocolate sauce was the best I've ever had in a long time.

Our waitress, a very nice lady, make sure we never got thirsty. You did a wonderful job. You know who you are. We're the ones celebrating our anniversary. You brought us that ice cream desert! Thanks for that. :)
