As a non-religious individual I am deeply offended by the Christian majority's audacity at insinuating their religious proscriptions and practices into the most important State function in our country.
The constitution does not say that this is allowed and those in the Congress who assume that the Framers of the Constitution meant that it is are unethically promoting their own religion. If the Framers intended allowances for certain religious practices in State ceremonies and practices, they would have stated so in the constitution. Since they did not, it is wrong to assume that they would look fondly on this practice of allowing religious influence in every aspect of our government.
Remember this small fact, The last time that politics and religion mixed, people were burned at the stake simply because another person held a grudge against them. Remember the Spanish Inquisition? The Crusades? Or perhaps I need to remind them of the Kings and Emporers who once ruled the majority of the "Civilized" world. They were constantly at war (usually over a single city or a few miles of farmland) and nobody could challenge their orders because they were "ordained" by God to rule. Or when the Anglo-Catholic Church assumed pseudo-control over the majority of Europe and a sin was considered a crime. Just imagine getting imprisoned or executed for having sex with your girlfriend without first going before a priest and being married. (Goodbye nightclubs) Or being publicly flogged for not attending church on a Sunday. Look at the Middle East. Their religious beliefs have been ingrained for so long in their leadership that they are almost always at war somewhere in the region. (And remember that they STILL aloow public execution by stoning for adultery)
The religious majority in this country preach constatly about Freedom of Religion, but they only mean it as long as it is Christianity. Athiests are shunned, Wiccans are called pagans or witches, we treat native-born muslims like enemies of the state, Mormons are slandered for their belief in miltiple marraiges, Satanists are automatically suspect because of the symbols they wear. The children of these religious parents are picked on, insulted and sometimes even physically harmed in public schools when they don't "Meet at the Pole" for prayer or when they won't attend Teens for Christ.
People have been irresponsible with their money, spending what they didn't have to spend on things they could have lived without. It has led to the worst economic situation in my generation. How many of them did it believing that God would help them through their hard time. (God is appearantly broke since he doesn't provide anything to keep his churches open, hence the need for tithes and offerings)
It is time for our so-called "Enlightened" species to grow up and quit depending on the Holy Father to solve our problems. All children must quit depending on their parents at some time or another.
If you are going to believe in something, believe in Humankind (at least there is proof that we exist.)
Sorry to blow so long, but those of us who don't follow any religion have absolutely NO representation anywhere. At least ONE of us had to stand up and say our peice.
One last fact. The Pilgrims came here trying to get away from the theocracy in England (Think about it)
English as the state's official language

Oklahoma City (AP)_Legislation that makes English the official language of Oklahoma has passed teh state House in spite of opponents who say it is divisive and unnecessary. House members approved the bill 66-32 Wednesday and sent it to the Senate for a vote. Rep. In celebration of the right of each and every American to marry the person he or she loves, OkEq will be holding a series of marriage equality events.

At 2:30 P.M. on Friday, February 13th, same-gender couples will arrive at the Tulsa County Courthouse and apply for marriage licenses in a symbolic show of support for marriage equality. In accordance with Oklahoma Statutes and the State Constitution, the Clerk of the Court will have to deny these couples' requests for a marriage license, highlighting the second class status accorded to same-gender loving relationships. "The freedom to marry whoever you want is, at heart, simply an issue of equal treatment and equal rights," says Oklahomans for Equality Advocacy Chair Matt Warren; "Marriage confers more than 1,000 federal benefits and protections that are unfairly denied to same-gender couples in the status quo."

After the demonstration, participants and supporters of marriage equality are invited to the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center, located at 621 East 4th Street, for a symbolic wedding reception and the Equality Center's first annual Wedding Fair, complete with booths and vendors catering to ***, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender couples who wish to tie the knot.

We want to know what you think...give us your thoughts and we might use it on FOX23 News.

Jim Glover - A rip off and crooks?

Has anyone went to these people? Made the deal, got loan approval, traded in her old car and came home.
about 2 days later They actually came to her house, said they gave her the wrong car. The one she had costs more because it had tinted "windows". So they gave her a red car without tinted windows. If it was me, I would have shot the idiots if they touched the car.
Now she has the new car. Jim Glover has been calling once a week demanding different papers saying this and that is screwed up. So now we finally figured out what happened.
One of Jim Glovers friends had wanted the blue car.
Decisions by voters in Florida, Arizona and California to join residents of 27 other states with constitutional protections for traditional marriage have prompted threats of violence against Christians and their churches.

"Burn their ****** churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers," wrote "World O Jeff" on the JoeMyGod blogspot today within hours of California officials declaring Proposition 8 had been approved by a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent. Confirmation on voter approval of amendments in Florida and Arizona came earlier.

The amendments in all three states essentially limit marriage to one man and one woman. In California, the measure states the only marriages "valid and recognized" in the state are those between one man and one woman.

Thirty states now have adopted marriage amendments. However, in California, the vitriol appeared especially high since the state Supreme Court in May created same-sex marriage for homosexuals. Proposition 8 overruled the court decision, readopting the marriage definition California votersadopted in 2000.

He was sick enough to were I could grab it, but alive enough to fend me off if I was stupid enough to try. I called animal control and quickly found out they were associated with the city police dept (*&$%#!). I explained the situation and explained there were kids and pets all around as this is a residential neighborhood. They said they would be right on it.

Apparently the TPD looked at a map and found out there wasn't a QuickTrip nearby and called me back. They were to busy. I was informed I could go about 12 blocks away and borrow an animal trap for a $25.00 deposit.

My next option was to go outback and open fire. Being a New Yorker, I realized this was retarded as TPD would show up. It wouldn't be the cops that refuse to get out of the car as they are stuck in it for the day because there over weight. It would be the ones that would chase me down.

I called Tulsa Zoo. This particular Zoo is peculiar. If you go during the week day, they have lonely volunteers that love to talk and don't have friends. If they catch you (and they do) they tell you all about the animals, the zoo, the habitats, the history of the zoo, etc. It is actually a fun time to go as you really learn a lot. If you want to learn about Zoo Horrors, ask what happens if a wild animal gets in a cage. You will run out screaming with your hands over your ears going, "TMI, TMI, TMI".

Where was I? Oh yeah. I was banking that the staff was just as, if not, way more knowledgeable than the volunteers, so I left a message of my dilemma. Sure shooting, I got a call back within 10 minutes from a gentleman. I was darn near a vet by the time he was done, figured out he wasn’t contagious and how to deal with the situation safely for all concerned.

So Thank-You, Tulsa Zoo for giving me enough information to deal with a situation and helping me to determine if it was a danger to anything else!

Tulsa World Rte 66 marathon

I said it would be a cold day in Heck before I go

Anyone want to come with me?
Second Stimulus Check ?

A few weeks ago, I briefly heard mention on the news that President Bush was pushing for a second stimulus check. Is there anything to it, or was it just an idea that has fell by the wayside?

Will KGW shut up?

Yes I will!
McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Police detectives seeking the identities of bloggers who criticized McAlester officials on an online message board delivered a subpoena to the site's operator, who say he won't cooperate with investigators.

Two police detectives delivered the subpoena Tuesday to Harold King, who operates the Web site www.mccooler.net. The subpoena orders him to provide details by Saturday on 35 bloggers posting under pseudonyms on King's site.

King said he researched posts under those pseudonyms and found one common denominator: All had written critically about Pittsburg County District Attorney Jim Miller.

Miller said by telephone: "I can't comment on any investigation, and whether one's going on or not."

An advocate of open government said he's concerned the subpoena could have "a chilling effect."

"It just smacks of trying to chill criticism," said Joey Senat, past president of FOI Oklahoma Inc. and associate professor of journalism at Oklahoma State University.

"We have a right to speak anonymously, especially about political matters," Senat said.

<the rest of the story>

Semgroup

Maybe I am missing something here.
