Recession Less Severe in Green Country

Analysts announced today the nation’s economy has been in a recession since December of last year. The announcement came from the National Bureau of Economic Research, an academic body that tracks economic activity.

FOX 23’s Douglas Clark takes a closer look at today's announcement and why Oklahoma is doing much better than many others parts of our country.

Official word of a year-long recession came amid slowing production and climbing unemployment figures. But for Green Country residents, there’s a silver lining. The state’s unemployment rate of 4.3% is well below the national rate of 6.5%.

Man's bottom worth $2 million

An English grandfather has had his bottom insured for $2 million.

Graham Butterfield is the offical "Bed Bouncer" at his job with bed firm Silentnight.

The 54-year-old says his bottom is very sensitive and he says it can "literally feel the difference in materials and fillings used, simply by sitting on it."

In my case I had to put up with a bully. Oh, I got a person who has no idea how to talk to adults, this person jumped in my face, pointing her finger and screaming at me like I was an imbecile. Telling the management yhat was in the wrong, when I had no idea of the situation of course, giving the impression that I was insubordinate, sending others to watch me doing my job. Racism, sexism and just plain silliness from older adults with little sense of professionalism. Lies and inuendo. That's what I have been putting up with. Go figure. And what does the EEOC do? Nothing as usual. I believe the organization just has an office for decoration. They accomplish nothing but cost tax-payer dollars to maintain.

Moreover the building is filthy and dust-ridden. Co-worker spitting in the hallways. Some leaving footprints on the elevators along with trash. Evidently some don't know what a trash can is for.

1. couple weeks ago got my shoe hidden

2. stole my keys and messed up my settings in my car, seat all way back, windsheild wipers on full blast. heater on. radio all the way up

3. stole the wheels off my chair

4. post it note under my laser mouse.

5. Cards in my roledex were all turned backwards

6. changed my desktop

7. called me from receptionist desk just say "i cant talk right now"

I deserve all of it which is the bad thing about it. lol

Oklahoma Legislature Approves Bill to Create SMART PORTS and NAFTA SUPERHIGHWAY. April 29,2008 the Okla. Legislature passed SB-1507 which will allow for: 1. creation of foreign owned "SMART PORTS" within the state of Okla. 2. allows for the creation of the NAFTA SUPERHIGHWAY through OKLA. using eminent domain. 3. allows foreign countries to invest or take your property for a better economy. 4. purpose of a "SMART PORT" is to allow cheap imported goods to pass through the US/Mexican borders with NO customs checks until it reaches OLKA. The bill is now on Governor Brad Henry's desk: Read some of the provisions. This is directed to the property owners. 1. "Project" any "projects" means any facility constructed or improvements made under the provisions of this act by an international trade processing authority for the purpose of acquiring, contructing, equipping and operating an international trade processing center, including rail, water, air, highway intermodal facilities, and commercial support facilities, and shall include all buildings, structures, landscaping, infrastructure, utilities, roadways, railways, parking structures, parking lots, sidewalks, personal property and fixtures, equipment and machinery, and other improvements which an international authority may deem necessary for the operation of such project, together with all property, rights, easements and interests which may be acquired by an international trade processing authority for the construction of such. The head of the top U.S. phone company AT&T Inc (T.N) said on Wednesday it
was having trouble finding enough skilled workers to fill all the 5,000
customer service jobs it promised to return to the United States from India.

"We're having trouble finding the numbers that we need with the skills that
are required to do these jobs," AT&T Chief Executive Randall Stephenson told
a business group in San Antonio, where the company's headquarters is
located.
So far, only around 1,400 jobs have been returned to the United States of
5,000, a target it set in 2006, the company said, adding that it maintains
the target.

Stephenson said he is especially distressed that in some U.S. communities
and among certain groups, the high school dropout rate is as high as 50
percent.

"If I had a business that half the product we turned out was defective or
you couldn't put into the marketplace, I would shut that business down," he
said.

Gone are the days when AT&T and other U.S. companies had to hire locally, he
said.

"We're able to do new product engineering in Bangalore as easily as we're
able to do it in Austin, Texas," he said, referring to the Indian city where
many international companies have "outsourced" technical and customer
support workers.

"I know you don't like hearing that, but that's the way it is," he said.

Stephenson said neither he nor most Americans liked the situation, and the
solution was a stronger U.S. focus on education and keeping jobs. Business
needed to help, such as AT&T's repatriation of service positions and
education grants, he added.
