Shouldn't there be something on the sites. Oh yes, they just passed a law about an extensive background check. Now ol David Walters won't get to work in one anymore. Those that wonder, David Walters is a man who beat the living crap out of my cousin when she was about 2 or 3 and had to live in a body cast for a couple of months. He works in a daycare in Tulsa now since he got out of prison. Don't ask me which one. I've been trying to find out myself since learning about it. That's one of the things that wasn't disclosed to my family.

I don't know if they have anything on the internet, but they do have a book at the DHS office that you can look through and see what complaints were made and where.

i was wondering my son has been to daycares i have took him out of because it gave me bad feeling or i heard bad stuff bout them does anyone no how i can go on the internet in look where i no that a daycare is safe n see if dhs has had to go into any daycares before

There are good workers and poor workers out there. I personally think they need to be evaluated a lot more. I have a friend that is a DHS worker and she does a good job. She uses common sense and says alot of the kids don't even need to be there.

Sorry lady, don't know much about Iowa law to tell you anything. Sorry you had to go through all that. You should have at least gotten some kind of visitation. All I can tell you and it seems corny. is pray.

Here's the problem as I see it.

If you ever get involved with DHS, no mater what the issue, they assume you are guilty.
If the police get involved, well, they want an easy arrest and will only collect evidence of your guilt and not your innocence. This is assuming that they show up.
Going to court, the judge feels your guilty or why would DHS be doing this?
If there is a prosecutor, He wants you guilty, that's his job.
If they talk to your friends, your screwed, bend over and drop 'em. Anything said in your favor is ignored, anything said in THERE favor is kept.
If you get a defense attorney he wants lots of money to do the paperwork. If you have money to blow this is o.k. If you get a public defender, he doesn't care because of his 1,000 other cases.

And this is why they don't have too many clock towers in Oklahoma.

In my nightmare dealing with dhs i found out that we as parents are doomed from day one im fighting a battle in a small town with in my opion small town law my attorney,my kids attorney,my ex's attorney,dhs attorney who is the county attorny and the judge all seem to be against me i will walk into the court room they ALL will be talking about me and my case and when i walk in they stop it feels like they've already desided whats going to happen ahead of time i feel all alone fighting a loosing battle ive tried contacting other attorney's and as soon as i tell them its a bloomfield davis county case they all tell me no so i dont know what to do all i know is i refuse to give up these are my kids my life so if you learn of any way to fight dhs or this messed up system please let me know. I just wish dhs would consintrate more on familys who really need there help instead of distroying good familys.

trust me i feel for any parent who ever has the misfortune of dhs entering there lives. after 15years living with a very abusive man i finally found the courage to stand up and get my freedom from him but it ended up costing me my 3 daughters. my children witnessed VERBAL domestic violence and dhs considered that failure to provide adaquite supervision denial of critical care which is child abuse i didnt know that. i dont know any parent in the world who doesnt argue in front of there children so parents be ware if you raise your voice in front of your children you have abused them.becouse of this dhs took my kids my life ive done everything theyve asked and still dont have my children i asked for family counsiling for me and my kids to learn how to live a normal life free of violence and that never happened so basicilly dhs dragged there feet long enough that the kids were out of the home long enough by iowa state law they had to terminate my parental rights. I feel like me and the kids have been abused by dhs this time ive done nothing wrong i felt i was doing the right thing and breaking away from a abusive man. but his threats if i cant have them i will make sure you loose them has come true with dhs help. I will never trust the system again and im afaid my kids wont either what message has this sent my kids? If anyone has any ideas to help me i would appreciate it. I feel helpless.My advise to any parent spread the word arguing in front of your children could cost you your kids dhs prays on parents who dont know the laws or there rights someone needs to do something but what?

Well hawkeye, if that's what is indeed happening then I hope it all works itself out. Could be why I've never gotten an offer from DHS, just not crooked enough nor do they pick up on anything like that during the interview process. I had interviewed with Deleware county about 8 times now and still no budge. I guess I know that I would not fit in there. I'm no nonsense and have never BS'd any of my clients in the past. And, it's because of that, I've always gotten respect. Next time, try the other senator. My mother has never went to Watts. I can't remember the other ones name. Someone help me here, lol.

Yea, it's like I said Patriot. The law is there(just like a bunch of others) but is hardly enforced at all.

Got to give Cherokee county pd another shout out. My stepbrother was having some trouble with some kids in school. Normally, you let the school handle this. But, in this case the kids threatened to find out where he lived and burn his family's house to the ground with everyone in it. Yea, Cherokee county was called and Roger(can't remember his last name but he use to own the sinclar store in Peggs) went straight to the school and pulled the boys out of class and let them know the seriousness of their statements. Since then, my stepbrother hasn't had a problem with them. Says that they've been nice to him since.

To you Hawkeye, it's hard for me to put myself directly in your situation because I do a great job in watching myself. I have 4 kids right now with a 5th to be born this month. I actually only have 2 children with a 3rd on the way and the other 2 are my stepchildren. My oldest son doesn't live with me fulltime but that's not because i'm a bad parent. Me and my ex are good parents so it's natural to leave with the mother. We both share joint custody. There's been times I felt my ex was going to try and say something but never has. Let's face it, only time child welfare has ever gotten involved is when there were accusations against her and the daycare worker. I can attest that my ex never hurt my son and shouldn't have been investigated but it's proceedure. The daycare worker was in the wrong but it wasn't something that couldn't be corrected nor did it warrant her getting shut down. Mistakes were made and corrections were also made. We all now live in harmony. Until the next problem I guess, lol.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if I was in your situation. I would have "NEVER" given up. Without my kids I'm nothing. Without my kids, there's no reason for going on. My kids are my only reason for being and when they are grown it'll be for the grandchildren. Besides my wife, nothing else will matter. It would take an army to be able to take my kids from me so anyone thinking about it better have one on hand.

Also, there's also such things as polygraph tests. If I was facing loosing my children because of false accusations then I would have submitted to a polygraph test. If you are innocent, it'll show.

As far as sounding crazy, I think your response was typical of anyone that faced any accusation that they may believe to be false. If I knew I was innocent, I'd probably react the same way. It's weither you think it all through or not that makes you crazy or insane.

I agree with you also that DHS does need an investigation done and restructuring from the top down is needed. That's why I've been called to so many interviews with these people. I truly believe that there are some people in DHS that do want to make a difference. Believe me, I've talked to them just like I've talked to the ones that don't care.

Just to save you a nights sleep on your tax money. Yes, I recieve foodstamps and my kids are on soonercare. I work a fulltime job and a lot of times put in overtime. My wife is a stay at home mother because it's cheeper living this way. Like I said though, I'm one of those that's actually working for a living and doing for my family and not just letting the government support me fully. Let's face it though, jobs around here don't pay a whole lot and sometimes a man's got to put his head down and ask for assistance when his family needs it.

As for the dude you saw getting food with foodstamps and taking money and buying beer. Think of it this way, at least he wasn't spending the foodstamps on the beer. There's nothing wrong with a working man going and getting food for his family and seeing he has a few bucks to buy some beer to sort of chill out from work. A good days work deserves a beer. Yes, we do actually have the law on the books since 1999, but it is used almost exclusively with domestic abuse cases in which one or the other is stalking and or threatening to harm the other. Unless the stalker has actually broken the law by acting physically in most cases, no one will do anything, in other words, you have to be a victim of assault to get anyone to act on the law, only after action has taken place, if you are still alive, you can have them arrested and take them to court.

Yes I agree, I should've fought harder but I was becoming self destructive. I kept doing stupid things like driving really bad and I didn't care. I recall several times where I found myself wondering "if I hit run off that overpass then my kids will be taken care of with the life insurance." Suicide crossed my mind alot. It didn't help that my husband's ex-wife would follow me home from work from time to time. That's whe we got cell phones and I had to call him if anyone was following so he could get to me and put a stop to it by confronting her and her friends while it was happening. Everytime we would lose her in the same apartment complex because of so many different exits. And I did get a different attorney at one point because they tried to put me in jail for not completing the parenting classes they required me to take. I was still going to them weekly but there was a misreporting on their attendance records. My new attorney started meeting me there so she could verify I was there herself. Both my husband and I did take polygraph tests that we paid for out of pocket and DHS picked the guy who did it. We both passed but the results were suppressed at the states request. I suspicion it was because it didn't help them at all. I'm sorry to hear that you yourself have had to deal with investigation. You should feel lucky it stopped there. I did in the beginning have a case worker that was trying to place them back in the home after she saw the polygraph results. I have pictures of her with my kids. She put in my file that she was recommending that after the classes were finished that I could begin unsupervised visits and then if they went well weekend visitation. That way they could re-adjust before being placed back in my home permanently. Then mysteriously she was no longer my case worker and I got a supervisor that decided to work my case herself who never returned my calls. She also began putting in my file that I missed several appointments when I didn't have those appointments. I had to start recording every conversation I had with them. The phone records that were mysteriously sent to me after it was over . . . they showed calls to this supervisor and her calling them. They always were around the same time of these "missed appointments." I can't do anything about it now, but may her soul burn in hell all of eternity for what she lied about and what she did. Believe me, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't regret making the choice that I made. But it was my choice that I have to live with for the rest of my life, and I don't have to answer to anybody else but my kids for that choice. Whether you do or don't receive assistance is none of my business, nor is it relevant. What I do care about is the fact that there are far more dishonest people out there that are abusing it. Which is preventing the honest ones who do need it from getting what they need. And I do agree, there are quite a few people within DHS that are good at what they are supposed to do which is to help and not destroy families. But there are, in my opinion, far more crooked ones. They are supposed to talk to neighbors, friends, and family. They did not talk to any of my neighbors, my friends, or my family about me. They chose to believe his ex-wifes allegations simply because she was very close to him in recent years. And You know that old addage "a scorned women." If she couldn't have him then no one would and she proves that to this day by continuing her stalking. I've gotten to the point now that I just smile and wave. I've even blown her a kiss a time or two and chuckled because of how pathetic she really is. On her 3rd husband right now and she had to drive 2 hours with another guy (not the husband) just to see me. how special is that. There were times when I wanted to rip her out of the car by her hair and beat the crap out of her. Then my husband would tell me I would be no better than her if I did. Oh well, tomorrow's the day of the month when she and her "friend" usually show up. Gotta make sure the video camera is ready.
