DHS Lawsuit

I am a foster parent in Oklahoma, today I received a letter in the mail from my county DHS office stating that Fox 23 News and World Publishing Companyaka Tulsa World had filed a lawsuit in Tulsa county against DHS. This letter was giving our home an out to DHS releasing personal information to the court in Tulsa County. I have nothing to hide so we will not opt out of our information being shared.

Yes there are horrible foster homes and that makes me sick to my stomach, how dare a home open their doors to children to further victimize them. What upsets me is those of us who open our home and our hearts to children in need have to defend themselves. There are horrible parents out there, but do you ever feel the need to defend yourself as a parent. There are horrible teachers out there, does the whole teacher population feel the need to defend themselves and so on and so forth.

I am very open to anything or anyone making enough noise out there to get the changes needed to make our Foster Care System work. I, as a foster parent, have seen it fail miserably time and time again. We are not helping these kiddos, the system itself continues to vicitimize the kids. Yes do investigate DHS and licensed foster homes, my guess is those who do opt out have something to hide and I say shame on YOU! I would also hope that this was extended to kinship homes and tribal homes.

There have been two children that we had in our home victimized in kinship placements. For those of you who do not know, kinship placement is a home a child is placed in that is either a relative or a close family friend whom the children had a personal relationship with before being placed in state custody.

One child was placed with grandparents after a lengthy hearing having two attorneys against the move, the DHS caseworker against the move, but a supervisor at DHS and the county ADA had a vandetta to carry out and did so with a child. Guess what, that child was beat by step-grandpa. Another child that is still in a current kinship placement is in the home of a convicted felon who spent time in a state prison for drug trafficking and also has convictions of domestic abuse.

So yes, I say go after DHS and their reckless conduct of licensing homes that should have never been licensed in the first place. They are reckless in all that they do. I wish I had the perfect answer, but I don't. What I do know is that we owe these children and they deserve so much better.

First they deserve better from the very people who brought them into this world, the parents, where the trouble begins. Second, if it is needed for children to be put in state custody make darn sure it is protective custody, not further victimization. Make it right for the kids, please!!!!

I would help in anyway that I can. I have tried, my complaints my concerns fall on deaf ears and those ears do belong on the heads of elected officials.

Broken Arrow School System

I had to take a few deep breaths before posting this. I only moved to Broken Arrow in July of 2008. I am a grandmother, with an eleven year old granddaughter in this school system. I moved here to be closer to my daughter and her family. My daughter is a teacher in this system. I have never been more disgusted than to read this morning's story concerning the police department being sent to the school board's headquarters, suspicious fire in storage unit, on and on and on.

I have tried to ignore this situation up to this point, but it is going from ridiculous to bizarre. I am so sorry I moved here, and have already started to look at real estate elsewhere online. And I am so sorry my daughter chose to devote her time and talent to such a community seven years ago. My daughter has in her classroom a large printed page of rules of behavior for her young students. I daresay none of the adults involved in this circus have mastered any of them. It makes me beyond sad. ENOUGH!

I am so sick of the swearing and nastiness of everyone, not just the youngsters in public,our tv shows are not excetable for every age.

I want to see a sign in every business window to read, no shoes,no shirts and if we can see your crack , no service.

I want prime time on TV again. I want to be able to sit with any age person and enjoy the show. I don't think soap opera's should be on during the day.If they are ..clean them up. NOR should Jerry Springer. I also want to watch TV , then when the commicericals come on...not be blown off the sofa.

why so much in info commericals. what happen to movies on weekends and even one night a week. there are soooo many out there families could enjoy.

Go to the movies, before you shell out 25.00 bucks a person for an 8.00 (bad popcorn) 5.50 for a soda (they pay 15 cents for) and 8.00 plus to see the movie, they are rated!!!Yet you go to the supermarket and you can buy any rating at any age, WITHOUT ID. sit down at anytime to watch TV and OMG..no ratings and filthy.

It isn't exceptable to hear such horrible laungage. I have an antenna TV. If i wanted filth, i would get cable and choose the shows of my desire.

I want to see those that have been on the welfare system for many years, go out and earn the money the government gives them. Answer phones, work with the handycap as an aide, or how about shoveling side walks,shopping for the elderly. That sort of thing. those that get assistence because of their weight, their ability not to be able to read or just to far into drugs. well, educate them to read...pay for the gym and tell them to work, and how about putting them in a required drug addiction program. we have to be able to do something other than paying them to sit on their butts..

how about landlords, that get the money and do nothing, overcharge those on assistance so they get more money. Then offers the renter, no garbage removal. they should have to pay for it to keep the tentants form throwing it on someone elses property. If they don't... govenment should fine them.

or the people that have old refrigerators,cars,junk just piling up and a disgrace..clean it up or let the govenment fine them for not doing so.

how about the person that has buildings and such falling down and left to do so on their own. let the government fine the property owner for the lack of tear down and presenting a dangerous situation.

how about the person that thinks it is cute to have CATS breeding and BREEDING.. if the animals do not get fixed...let the government fine them too. I am a animal lovber, i think it is cruel!!!!

people who are getting disability. even after they move out of state. if a complaint is made that they are faulty in getting it..INVESTAGATE IT. Do not just ignore the complaint., investagte it.

don't take more of the person's money that works 45 hrs to get 25,000. and pays their own bills, repairs,property upkeep and taxes..

let the millionaires and billionairs pay more... they are the ones that are usually more wastfull. if you can afford a 600.000 lunch..you can afford to pay more taxes than the average person.

QUIT PUTTING YOUR MAKE-UP ON WHILE DRIVING!!!!!!

I watched you in front of me all the way down 169 (a good 15 minute drive in heavy traffic) as you weived and slammed on your brakes unnecessarily because you were not paying attention! I watched as you did your eye shadow, eye liner and mascara and couldn't help but be completely annoyed! There is no way you can do that while paying attention, which probably explains the weiving and total disreguard for anyone around you! Not to mention the fact that people had to pass you one the right because you were holding up the entire passing lane! ( if you would have looked in the mirror (but you couldn't because your rear view mirror was pointed at you) you would have seen me shaking my head in total disbelief!

So, sorry to call you out, and I know for a fact you aren't the only one who does this, it saddens me to say that I've seen it many times! If you are running late, wait til you get to work and put it on at your desk or in the parking lot instead of carelessly endangering others. Plus, the end result of a wreak would be you with an eye liner pencil sticking out of your eye, try to explain that to a cop!

auto industry bailout

in regards to the bailout for the auto industry.

Why should the government bail out an industry that gives it executives million dollar bonuses and they also take all of our jobs away and send them to other countries just so their CEOs can have even bigger bonuses!? It makes me angry when I see upper managment taking all the credit and money when things are going well and when things go bad for a company then it is everyone else's fault but the executives! Why should the workers pay for the bad decisions of their bosses? If a company is in trouble then the CEO should be the FIRST person to tighten their belts and give up their bonuses and even take a cut in pay instead of laying off good hard working people who in reality have kept that company prophatble by doing the manual labor that the executives think are beneath them!

BOK ticket sales

With a large percentage of BOK tickets being snatched up by scalpers, we must do something now to fix the problem. Until a federal law is passed, then the scalpers will continue to deny Tulsans the oppertunity to enjoy OUR building at a FAIR price. Since the BOK Center is being paid for by Tulsans and surounding communities, I feel that is only fair that we get first dibs on the tickets. My idea is that tickets be sold at the ticket counters at the BOK Center and LOCAL agents, i.e. Homeland ect. for the first three days, face-to-face (no internet) starting on Saturday morning and continuing thru Monday evening. This will give a majority of us to buy tickets first. Additionally this will give the people who funded this venue to have an oppertunity to get tickets at face value. If any tickets are left over, then at that point they will be offered over the internet to sell to the rest of the nation. PROBLEM SOLVED!

This is a subject that is very sensitive to me which is why I am sharing it with everyone who will take the time to read this. I have to describe myself a little so you can get the whole scheme of this. I am a 33 year old female, 5'5", 125 lbs. and look healthy to the average person. I'm guilty of the bleach blond hair and like to wear make up. I am by no means trying to find a date with that description (even though it sounds like something you would see in a personals ad, I have a boyfriend who I love very much). Anyway, I have a handicapped parking placard because I have Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed 8 years ago and just because I look healthy I find that I am constantly having to defend myself when I park in a handicapped spot! Last week I had an encounter with a woman in the office building I work in. I parked and she just kept watching me and looking back at me. By the time I reached the entrance to the building she looked at me and said "Did you know that you parked in a handicapped space and you are not allowed to park there." I was in utter shock that someone could be this rude. I smiled very politely at her and replied "I have a handicapped parking placard hanging right there on the mirror and although you are technically violating my HIPPA Privacy I would like to let you know that I have had Multiple Sclerosis for 8 years now. My cane is in the back seat of the car and I don't need it today, but from now on I'll get out of the car with a limp or something if that is what will make you feel better about my parking. So, if you are done playing parking lot enforcement, I would like to begin my Monday morning. You have a good day!" I hope this woman felt an inch tall after that. I deal with painful spasms in my back and feet all day long, I usually do have a limp at the end of a tiresome day, and my balance is one that even my doctor has to look and say "I've seen enough. . .your balance is horrible!" lol I have days that take me 2 hours just to get out of my bed from the fatigue from MS. So please, don't judge someone in handicapped parking just because you think they look healthy. It ruins our day and our lives have already been ruined enough by this disease. I seriously hate to be "that" person, but.....

The people who live behind me have 3 pit bulls that bark incessantly! All through the night and whenever my two little dogs or I go out in the back yard. Through the privacy fence I can hear that their barks and growls are not friendly! I feel bad for them because the owners never take them inside... even in the snow and rain! When my husband was up fixing the roof he didn't see any dog houses in the yard and the dogs acted very aggressive to him. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Also....

I live in a nice neighborhood, but the people across the street are kinda strange and I have reason to believe that there might be some drug trafficing going on! We live in a cult-a-sac and you wouldn't believe the amount of people that come and turn around in the cult-a-sac (sp?) at all hours of the night, they live on the corner when you first enter. I know the occasional turn around should be expected, but this is constant, it's like a drive thru every night! Any ideas on what to do about this? There are children in this area and i would hate for some drug brawl to go down in the street and a child to get hurt.

Any ideas would be helpful! Thank you!

No new taxes not even for roads

The news needs to help inform people not just promot the city officals sides. We pay taxes lots of taxes for our roads. We do not need more taxes to pay for them, we do need to know why they have spent our taxes on other things than the roads.

We need to fix the problem not tax people out of Oklahoma to pad some officials and some contractors pockets. How about it news think you can do any investigation as to where the money went and why they are not in jail for stealing for the Oklahoma tax payer?

Hi, how are you there at Fox 23?

Recently I have taken up bicycling again for health purposes and exercise etc. etc.

I have discovered in doing so, how a great deal of hard work has been going into

a complete re-do of the Bike Trail or Path along Riverside Drive.

I have been enjoying it now for a few months. Currently the areas from 11th street

and 31st are pretty much completed. There are now a great number of night time

street lights added on,... all along the trails. ( Oh and this is a path for those who enjoy

Jogging and Walking, along with Rollerbladeing and Skating )

Does anyone know when they propose to complete the latest editions of remodeling

there with regards to: from 31st to say 51st or further??

It is now so smooth and comfortable to experience and has much more to come as far as

landscaping goes...!

As I have been riding there more often, I have met so many friendly and very intelligent people

who have quite an impressive array of high tech bicycles to experience and learn about.

Tom at Tom's bike shop on south peoria has pointed out how there are so many Fun things

to see and lean about with regards to the latest in bicycles and cycling...!

It has become a "Science" now of sorts, in my view.

I hope you'll take a few moments of your time and go check out all the great things

going on now on Riverside Drive and the New Paths.

New Light Bulb Law

It's not enough that the government regulates how much water your toilet can use to flush it,

but now they are outlawing encandescent light bulbs and forcing flourescent bulbs on us.

I know, all the global alarmists are in support of this, but it should be left up to the people as to what type of light bulbs they use in their own homes. I have bought the "green bulbs" before, and besides being very expensive, they did not last as long as a regular light bulb. And, they are full of mercury, so when you have an accident and break one, you must open all the windows and doors and get out of the house. Those of you who believe in all this global warming mythology can go right ahead and let the government dictate to you what bulbs you can use, but I have started buying up regular light bulbs, so when the new unconstitutional law comes into effect, I will have more than enough bulbs to last the rest of my life. It just never ceases to amaze me at the willingness of so many people to just blindly go right along with anything the government throws at them. We have turned into a nation of sheep with jellyfish backbones. Just go ahead and be suckered into conforming to this new law, but I absolutely refuse to go along with it.

Why is Tulsa such a 'dog un-friendly' city?

My husband and I travel the country a lot during the summers in our RV. We come to cities all over the country that are 'dog friendly', meaning they have dog parks where dogs and their responsible dog owners can play off leash. They have shops and restaruants where dogs are not only welcome, they are catered to. We sat in an outside cafe in Aspen recently where the waiters brought bowls of ice-water for our two boxers. Another shop owner almost demanded that we bring the dogs in so both of us could shop together (I was staying outside to hold the dogs). A new mall opened in Richmond, Va. that caters to dogs; having water bowls near fountains and all the shops asking the dogs to come in. What's up with Tulsa? We don't have dog parks, we have very few stores that allow dogs and they sell stuff for them. Lowe's and Home Depot used to allow them in and they quit! Why? My dogs used to love going to the hardware store. It was their favorite place because all the construction guys loved them.

There are developers around the country incorporating off leash dog parks into planned housing communities.......but alas, not in Tulsa. I have talked w/ my councilman till I'm blue in the face. He's too interested in his corupt 'good ol' boys' network to care about it. I've even contacted a lobbiest who gave me a contact to call. He never called back.

And while my brain has 'gone to the dogs'........Why doesn't Fox News ask the Right questions on their poll? Instead of asking if certain strong breeds should be banned in Oklahoma, ask if certain types of owners should be made to take proper dog training classes and get a license to own certain types of breeds? I can promise that the problem is not in the breed of dog. The problem is in the owner of the breed. If you don't know what you are doing, a butter knife can be dangerous, if you get my drift.

The problem started when DHS came and took 4 of my grandkids ages 10,7,4,3. The case worker got mad when he was made to give the kids back. He said he didn't want to be he had no choice. About an hour after the kids got home I went to see them. As soon as I walked in my son told me to go home and get my camera. The 10yr old had a big bruise on the side of her leg, the 7yr old had a belt mark across her upper forarm, from the lower part of her back to the upper part of her legs was solid. I've never seen anything that bad. It was late when I left and the two older kids was asleep so the next day I took my camera over and took pictures of them. When we asked what happened both girls said that the lady at the shelter would beat them with a belt if they didn't go to sleep when she said. My son and his wife wasn't sure what to do with it being DHS, they asked if I contact an attorney for advise. They wanted to make sure they did things right. I contacted a few attorneys and was waiting on a reply before we did anything. I showed the pictures to the oldest 2's father. The next day I got hold of an attorney and he told me what needed to be done. That same day a lady from Tulsa Co called (the kids dad called her). I told her what the kids told me. She asked me to send her the pictures. Two days later the kids went to there dads next they I know he's called the police and told them my son did it. The 10yr old told the police my son did it, at first the 7yr old did to but then she said she only said it because her sister did. They took the kids back to the shelter, I begged tem not to I told them the kids could stay with me but they said they had to take them. I'm afraid of what is happening to the kids. The caseworker was supposed to set up a visit for the mother but hasn't. I'm afraid of why he won't let them visit their mom.

JUST BECAUSE A DOCTOR HAS A DEGREE DOES NOT MAKE THEM KNOW EVERYTHING, ALWAYS QUESTION WHAT THEY ARE DOING BECAUSE THE 3WKS WE WERE THERE THEY TRIED TO CANDY COAT WHAT HAPPENED.

In my opinion, if it's not one thing it's another. No matter what is on the cover, someone will be offended! I even see magazines turned over in the check-out lines because the model on the cover has a low cut top or something! Aren't there better things to worry about? 412 (Sand Springs Expressway)

What in the world are they doing??? First they started off by making rectangle holes only to fill them up again and make the road bumpy. Now they have a LONG stretch under construction while you have to drive over the bumpy part that THEY created in the first place.

A couple of weeks ago as I was driving toward Tulsa there was a HUGE pothole in a very narrow part of the construction. I called the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and after letting her know that they are looking at a lawsuit if someone gets hurt, is when it got fixed. They were out there that afternoon. If our roads had been taken care of in the first place we would not be in this predicament. I have done a lot of traveling and have never seen such poor roads that are damaged so extensively.

My daughter and I saw the suv that flipped off the bridge that day. It was horrible and it was caused by the city and state being neglectful. Quite frankly, I would much rather drive to Owasso to do my shopping than drive on the horrible roads in Tulsa.

Don't hesitate to contact the Mayor's line for local roads and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for highways. I know at this point they can only do so much, but we would not be in this mess if they took care of our roads like they should have.

Gas Tax Holiday

Does anyone else find it amusing that the candidates are saying they want a gas tax holiday for the summer? Correct me if I am wrong, but won't they still be campaigning this summer? It sounds great in theory, but if you want to impress me...lets get the prices back down to the $1.51 they were 8 years ago.

OK, this judge who ruled that it was not breaking any laws for that grown man to stick a camera under a 16 year old girls skirt and take a picture because it did'nt happen in a place where one would reasonably expect privacy. He is an TOTAL IDIOT AND SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO CALL HIMSELF A JUDGE! So that means you could take pictures of nude kids on the beach? One cannot reasonably expect beaches to be private.
