Below is an e-mail I just fired off to Hauppage. It might also help if the KMYT engineers confirm that they are broadcasting on an offset of the carrier frequency. If they are not on an offset it actually may be a problem with their headend equipment. It may also help if their engineers talk to the Hauppage engineers.
Product: HVR-1600
Driver version: 1.62.25129.0
Driver date: 5/9/07
OS: Vista 64-bit Ultimate
App: Vista Media Center
Station: KMYT-DT
Channel: 41-1, 41-2
Frequency Assignment: 42
Even though Vista shows full signal strength for 41-1 and 41-2 I get a "no signal" error when I try to change to those channels. My TV can tune those channels just fine. When I had XP using your software, I was also able to tune these channels.
It is my understanding that MS changed Vista to read the embedded frequency offset information in the carrier signal to determine if the channel is on an offset, and what offset it is. If the driver for the tuner doesn't support this command, it won't tune the channel. It shows up as full signal strength in the channel scan, because the scanner doesn't depend on this information.
Is this correct? If so, when will you release a driver to fix this? The only reason I bought a TV tuner and Vista was to use Media Center to tune/record these and other channels. Thank you.
