    City Trails

Found out today that the city trail near 14th and Peoria, that loops around into Maple park has to be re-done. This trail is the one on the Southside of the highway. It has to be moved 4 feet over. I am stymied by this as they have laid brick down on one side, similiar to to the River walk. The trail is wide enough for about 5 people to walk side by side, just like the Riverpark.
A guy putting up fencing on the north side of the highway explained that these trails are "Stop and go", as the plans keep changing.
These trails were laid last year and the basic trail was finished. Now it is going to cost more money to rip it up and lay it down again, I say at least doubling the cost of the trails.
This seems to be a constant all over Tulsa, does this send up red flags to anyone else?
How much money are we wasting because the planning committee keeps messing up? Remember the disabled ramps to no where?
Honestly, we need to go downtown and say, "STOP, STOP IT RIGHT NOW", roll up a newspaper (or grab a chair), smack them side the head and say, "No, Bad".
I can see a city planner now and then messing up, but this is to much, we are paying for way to many mistakes.

    Re: City Trails

The first thing you have to understand is the promotion process the City of Tulsa uses, and how the positions are filled, it is not based on skill or knowledge of the job, it is based on who is your friend. You hire low intelligence, poorly educated and trained individuals, you get poor results, it is as simple as that. You should meet some of the folks who occupy positions in the Human Resources Department for the City, OMG, talk about red flags! It is just ludicrous.

    hey kindagreywolf

here's some information that relates to your OP

A guy from the ADA "American Disability Association" have a Transition plan. it was developed in 1992 and it's basically saying that all cities are to have transportation to ADA standards w/ in a year or have funding for it w/ in a year . well this guy is trying to get standards of sidewalks and transportation methods from the 2 major cities in oklahoma, and he has been unsuccesful. "assuming Tulsa and OKC"  so 15 years later nothing has happend.  2 of our guys wasn't even aware of this Transition plan XD. looks like we got some work to do here in this little city, but least were doing something about it

    Re: City Trails

I am not saying Tulsa isn't doing anything about it, but they should start using there noggins.

Sometimes I wonder if they aren't planting IED'S in the sidewalk just to see if people are using them

You would figure when they did the sidewalks downtown they would put in the correct lighting, But I egress.
