patriot1947:Sorry, I know you are right, I am all for progress, just in my opinion this is not really progress, it is like painting an old rotten fence with a new shiny coat of paint, it looks good, but underneath it is still just an old rotten fence. I feel that is what Tulsa is trying to do, they want to look good without actally investing themselves emotionally or logically. Don't know if you have ever seen the Elvis Presley movie called "Stay Away Joe", saw it long ago, never forgot this one part, and what Tulsa is doing reminds me of the way they remodeled their house in the movie. Do you live in Tulsa? How long have you lived here? If you don't mind my asking.
I assume your talking to me: I live in Broken Arrow now. I have only lived here just over a year. I moved from Tulsa and lived there for over 20 years. I have lived on every side of town. N,S,E and W.
No, I cant say I have seen any of Elvis movies. What I see thou, is Tulsa trying....We have a Mayor that may not be great to some, but at least she is trying to do something for Tulsa. I cant say that for too many other Mayors.
Some people say we dont need to copy other city's or state's but look at their economy. Look at their roads etc... They are doing a lot better then we are. Like I said before, and I will say it till the day I die. Tulsa is so far behind.....................
I have been too, Dallas, Ft Worth, Kansas City Mo. Little Rock Ar. Just all in the last month. Just driving around you can see so many things to do, people look alive.....
Yes, I was talking to you. While I admire your optimistic view, I don't see us making any real progress, I see pet projects being promoted without any real regard as to what the citizens want. It is true that we are behind, this has not always been true, in the past we were considered a very livible city. I have been to all the cities you mentioned, and yes they do have things to do, they also don't feel compelled to raze every historic building they have and rebuild something made of glass and steel, or get rid of their amusement parks and such. As far as our Mayor goes, you can have her because I think she is a wealthy, elitist snob who doesn't care about quality of living for the people of Tulsa, but only about making Tulsa LOOK prosperous and progressive for her own social agenda, I think she stinks to high heaven, and I would love the opportunity to tell her so. So even though I respect your right to your opinion, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree for now.
I agree, we will have to agree to disagree for now..........

Tega:Nascar?! oh god.. the national white trash convention. I know, lets put a Nascar track, casino, and the state fair all in one spot. There would be a shortage of teeth but the entertainment value would rock!
I must beg to differ with you, Tega. Actually the quality of NASCAR fans that go to the races are a very good bunch of folks. I think your thinking of OU fans!
A good comparison would be NASCAR fans compared to the Celine Dion fans that will be coming to see her at the new BOK Albatross. Which would show NASCAR fans being a much higher class of individual than the slimy elitist crowd that follow their Celine with tears of sugar foots.
When your at a NASCAR race you'll see real ladies with the beautiy and class of a Mia or Chera. Where as you go to that Celine Concert you'll be seeing the Mayor Kathy and Sharon King Davis types crying in their seats saying this is the happiest they have ever been, as they listen to Celine sing the woman blues. Mean while the NASCAR ladies are jumping up and down as they cheer their driver on with both arms waving high in the air...no tears from these gals! And when all them Celine fans are crying as she sings her rendition of the Canadian Anthem mixed with our National Anthem, them NASCAR ladies are yealing Oh Hell Yeal with joy as those F16 fly over during the singing of our Natioanl Anthem by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Now mine you, I say to each their own but to call NASCAR fans white trash would be oh so wrong!

Just watching something go around and around and around, would make me dizzy. It sounds so BORING.......
I dont care too much for Celine, would never go to one of her concerts. But if I were given tickets to one or the other NASCAR or Celine. I would have to take the Celine tickets and just give them to someone else so they could go...HA HA

That's just because you have never been to a NASCAR race before, MrsPR USA. I'll guarantee if you ever went to one NASCAR race, you'd be a NASCAR fan for life.

We loose people to another state because the jobs around here don't pay much. I like the idea of catching up with everyone like you said. However, I feel it's a waste of money when people can't even fill the convention center. I agree and I don't like NASCAR either. But, I believe that we could build a NASCAR track and be very successfull with it. I sure hope I'm wrong about the stadium.

You said it, we do loose a lot of people/jobs to other states. In fact my husband has been looking for other jobs in other states. I hope I too am wrong about the new Arena....I hope it doesn't go wrong.
I am sure that NASCAR would be great here too.
