In my opinion, if it's not one thing it's another. No matter what is on the cover, someone will be offended! I even see magazines turned over in the check-out lines because the model on the cover has a low cut top or something! Aren't there better things to worry about? People need to quit making mountains out of thin air!!!!
WELL, SINCE YOU ASKED: I think she doesn't look the least bit scared first of all, second of all, I think the writer at foxsports is right, we DO need a handbook, and if the black population really wants to stop being offended, it would help if we understood the rules of the game, what to do and not to do. I remember a few years ago, the cover of a magazine featured Shaq on the cover, with Brook Shields up against him, his huge hand completely covering her tummy and most of her torso, very sexual image, accentuating Shaqs size and the contrast between the huge black basketball player and the slim white model. When I was growing up, the N word was used by everyone, not just people who didn't like black forks, some used it as a racial slur, but for most, that was just what they called blacks, that was before it offended them, then in the 50s they wanted to be called Negros, in the 60s they didn't like that, it became offensive, they wanted to be called African Americans, in the 80s, they decided they didn't like that either, because some were descended from other countries, so then they wanted to be called Blacks. Now, we all know, not all are actually black, and besided according to anthropologist, black is not a recognized race, it is a color, that would be like caucasians insisting on being called pinks, or asian being referred to as yellows. Thing is, there are three RACES, Negroid, Caucasian and Mongoloid.( Marlin, they haven't decided what we Cherokees are yet, so for the time being, I guess we can choose for ourselves.) Please, Please..... make some hard, fast rules and stick to them so we will know what is IN VOGUE this month, cause I am a pink person, and I don't have a freakin' clue! Finally, IMO, they need to quit making these athletes millionaires just because they can hit a hoop or run with a pigskin and knock the other kids down, it has gotten way out of control, and it is breeding a very arrogant, violent and angry generation of young men, whatever their color.
