BILL WOULD LOWER CONCEALED-GUN AGE TO 18
A bill which will lover the age at which people can carry concealed weapons from 21 to 18 is headed to the State House for consideration. The bill was requested by the Oklahoma Rifle Association. Charles Smith of Yukon exec. director of the state association said the reason for passing the bill was simple. "If people can vote and serve in the military at age 18, they should be able to carry a concealed gun," he said. A week ago the judiciary committee approved a bill that would allow 21 year olds to carry concealed weapons on college campuses and sent the bill to the House.Lucky Lamons, D-Tulsa, said he realizes it is difficult for lawmakers to vote against legislation dealing with the Second Ammendments right to bear arms because they don't want to be perceived by their constituents as being against guns. "It's a sad day in Oklahoma and the United States that we are even looking at these issues", Lamons said.*****COMMENTS ANYONE?***************

Yeah!, now the criminals can conseal their weapons at an earlier age. I feel that guns should require people to learn how to use them, before they should be put into anyones hands, and a total background check should be done before they can even purchase a gun. I am not for the new law, we already have too many guns on our streets, then to allow college people to take concealed guns to school! That is absurd.. (cricket)

Re: BILL WOULD LOWER CONCEALED-GUN AGE TO 18
I personally don't see anything wrong with it. Disgruntled kids already get their parents' guns and go on killing sprees. Maybe if they thought someone might shoot back, they wouldn't do it. Keeping the guns only in the hands of drinking-age adults isn't going to make things any safer. I'd rather see kids taught from a young age how to responsibly handle guns and respect what they're capable of.

Oh nooooooo! Say it isn't so! You don't really mean that do you? Sounds good in theory, but I don't think being able to carry a concealed weapon at a younger age is going to make these kids any more responsible. First thing I worry about is all the little gang bangers will be able carry guns legally, secondly, if kids had the best judgement not nearly as many would get into trouble, I have known veteran cops who went through all that cleet training and Police academy and still shot at themselves in mirrors and shot innocent people because of being in a tense, scary situation, these kids have faster reflexes than adults, some are more accurate than many cops because of an entire lifetime of playing ganster and war video games, some soldiers are actually trained for war using video games, our kids have spent years learning to kill virtually, and have become numbed to death and crime from the kind of world we live in. Plus, if they are startled they are going to shoot someone, a brother or sister, parent, and they will probably hit the target. You know at that age hormones still rage, and tempers flare easily, logic and good judgement goes right out the window. I think a lot of kids are going to decide to solve their problems with a gun if they have one handy. I just think it is a real bad idea. I think we need to be getting handguns off the streets and out of the hands of kids, not making it easier for them to kill one another and whoever else pisses them off. I don't know about you all, but for me, there are too many guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them already, I don't want to be around a bunch of 18 year olds with guns in their waist bands, most of whom don't even have the maturity to drive a car responsibly yet, much less keep these weapons away from younger kids who might be in their homes, and we are going to send them out with concealed weapons? Police are still trying to figure out when a kid has a gun if it is real or a toy, now they can just kill your kid outright because he was armed and possessed at least two of the three things needed to justify the police doing whatever it takes to protect himself: (1)Implied Threat of Violence,(2) Ability to do harm,(3) Intent to do harm to the officer. This AIN'T gonna be a good thing, think about it! Yeah, you gotta know you're in Oklahoma when the solution to kids shooting each other is to just arm them all and let them shoot it out. Marlin....quit sniffing that ashtray and give us your opinion, OH WISE AND VENERABLE SIMIAN..

I don't think 3 years is enough to make them any wiser. And if you think about it, they can join the military at that age and be handed a gun. Albeit the training is a bit different. (One is trained by their parents, the other by the government. I trust one a bit more than the other.)

Re: BILL WOULD LOWER CONCEALED-GUN AGE TO 18
Oh good.. and while we are at it, lets lower the driving age to 13 and the drinking age to 16. Idiots. Nothing good will come of this.
