If a predator got in your kids school, would your kid be safe?

No. No one is paying attention in Tulsa Public or any other school around here that I have been in. I walked right in past the security guard at Memorial HS just to see if anyone would notice. I roamed around in the halls for a good 20 minutes before anyone questioned me.

 At Byrd Middle School, I walked in, saw my daughter in the hall and walked out with her PAST a security guard, again to see if I could.

Both times I went to the school office to tell them what I had done. All I get are blank stares. No one pays attention. Would there be a predator in a school with nothing being done about it? Yep. I'm willing to bet it happens more than we know.

I thought the security at Mckinley Elementary, where I have three children, was good.  They have teachers standing in the halls before and after school and they have a buzz-in system but one area of concern is the cafeteria.  The kids enter school through the exterior cafeteria door in the morning and eat breakfast there but there isn't anyone monitoring this door.  Its unlocked and we parents come in this door with the kids but that also leaves it open for anyone else to enter.  There is an elderly teacher that is seated by a door that leads out of the cafeteria and into the hallways of the school but lots of parents go through without checking in at the office, us included.  I'm calling right now to see what we can do to remedy this.

My kids go to Jenks West and the security there is very good.  The principals offices are located next to the main entrances of each building and you MUST scan your license and get a visitors badge before you even enter the hallway.  Morning drop offs are monitored by teachers, and teachers are in the hallways before and after school.

Sounds like Jenks cares a LOT more about their kids than Tulsa does. What  really gets me is the fact that it took 48 hours for anyone to investigate that incident because of  a " language" barrier. Was it a language barrier or a race barrier? If I was a parent with a child still  in school, I would be demanding some answers NOW. That is really frightening when a maniac can just walk into a school and molest a child, and noone does anything for 48 hours. If it had been a rape all the evidence would have been unuseable. I have been a Security officer for over 12 years,and a mom, try to get by me if I am guarding kids, or anything for that matter. Wonder if they checked that freaks DNA against the one in BA who likes to rape first graders? Hey you shouln't be so concerned at you school. Unfortunatly they are even in your own Police Dept.

How scary is that?!?  What's going on and how can this be?

Law enforcement isn't superhuman......they are prone to the mistakes of everyone else, and they do serve their time just like any other violator.  I am not shocked that a police officer has been accused or whatever...of course I've seen nothing on the news or newspaper about anything as of yet.

When I lived in Bartlesville, there was an officer that would pull over young women and rape them.  Or make them do certain things in exchange for no tickets.  He was arrested and convicted. 

Pedophiles are everywhere....they can be anyone, anybody at any time......

I think it's human nature when you have control freaks becoming cops, child molesters becoming teachers, thief's becoming charity workers, power junkies becoming politicians and false prophets becoming preachers. Evil nest in it's illness, always has and always will.

No one should be blind of this and all should be watching out for it,always.

Schools can only do so much.. I think Parents should watch their children and help them reconize when something isnt right. I know a person can kidnap someone in a moment, but at least if they knew we were all watching I think it would help, we all need to get involved.

jd4fox23, I know this doesn't have anything to do with school, but we have a form of predator on our threads. Can you block Wyoming Knight form the posts? He is a HATE GROUP associated to the KKK, we don't need hate on here. He advertised an address to locate the Clan members. (cricket)

Cricket.......I must disagree with you on this. He has every right to voice his opinion.

I do not agree with his opinions but I don't agree with yours either on immigration. Yet I want you to have every right of voicing your opinion and he should have the same.

Saying that, if his comments turn threatening and etc, then that would be another matter.

If there has been anything I have seen on this forum of racist nature, it would be the Hispanics on here continually stating that Americans are lazy. Not only is this racist but it's out right unpatriotic of the country that you live in.

America wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for freedom of speech and that right of the people should never be in question.

Marlin, in some of your statments, you're right, but I say things about Mexicans, true, but I'm not a hate group and I don't believe in torchering or killing people, that is why I felt that Wyoming Knight should be removed, my feelings about what he says isn't the problem, it's who he is.
