    Protecting your kids from MRSA

Are schools doing enough to protect your kids against the super bug?

There is only so much you can do to fight it. What are they suppose to do cancel all sports and make the students sit in individual bubbles. Look MRSA is the new bird flu when all the media hype dies down., there will be a new super bug. If parents would do more themselves it would help, because the schools can not fight it alone. Everyone is quick to say the schools aren't doing enough. What about the parents, are they educating their kids. MRSA is not just something you get at school and if you look at it closer most people who get it probably didn't get it at school. The media is responsible for making this out to be some sort of super bug , but in reallity it has been around for a long time and since the media did not cover nobody payed attention to it. You the media need to quit making simple things out to be some sort of major catastrophy and  act ing like  this is some new  disease .

No I do not think schools are doing everything they can to protect agianst MRSA. I do not think most of us are doing what we should. I know I am doing everything I can for my family to keep from getting MRSA because we have already had it. In 2005 my mom, niece, daughter, aunt and son all got MRSA. My mom got it from being in the hospital and she gave it to my daughter and niece. I worked at Hillcrest and had no clue about MRSA and I brought it home to my 9 month old son. My aunt worked at a nursing home and had never heard of MRSA because she worked in the kitchen and she got MRSA. I have known so many people that have gotten MRSA before anyone know what it was. I do believe that the CDC should of told us about MRSA along time ago. We might not be having the problems we are having if the public would of known about it. I was so mad at my self when I found out I was the reason my 9mo old son got this extreamly painful staph. I just could not believe I had caused my son so much pain. My mom was in the same boat. She went in to the hopsital to have surgery and later found out she had MRSA and gave it to her granddaughters. She watched the pain they were in and she was in the same pain and it was her fault that she gave it to the girls but the hospitals fault that my mom got it.

I also have a sister that got MRSA from being in jail.

I do not think that the schools, nursing homes, prisions, jails, or hospitals are doing all they can to cut down the spread of MRSA. I do believe MRSA will stay the number one killer because no one wants to believe it can happen to them and so there for no one is going to do what they can to keep for getting it.

When the news teams find out what is new, they do get right on it and get the word out. I feel the schools can do more about it also, but it is also up to the parents to teach their children. I know for a fact that schools never clean off the seats or desks, on a daily basis, so germs are always on the desks and seats. The parents can teach their children to use a hand sanitizer after each class, so as not to carry any germs from room to room, that would help to deter the MRSA. The children can carry a small plastic jar with them. (cricket)

i find it hard to believe that hillcrest didnt know about MRSA in 2005 i worked at st francis in 2002 and it was well known there...talk about a lot hype........much ado about nothing....wash your hands frequently and your chance of gettin MRSA is practically nil....that being said...i saw the workers cleaning the schools and laughed out loud  MRSA protocols state gowns head cover and in some cases masks....can you believe what it would cost to wipe down every desk and chair in the tulsa public schools every night?...i daresay the cost would scare every MRSA warrior back under said desks as the costs would prolly cause  taxes to double......

I would seriously like to see this. All the bacteria you have mentioned are easily prevented through proper hygene and/or cooking. MRSA was created by people over using bacteria killing agents (ie; Penicillian), or not using as directed.
