I fully support House Bill 1804.  I am sorry for the aliens, but we have to live by the law if we are to continue being a great country.  If they return legally, we will welcome them with open arms. 

If prices go up on products and services go up because they have gone home or to another state, that is a price we should pay.  We are treating them like slaves doing work for no benefits and no legal support.  I firmly believe that is in their best interest to return here as legal workers.

Citizenship is earned not stolen. All US citizens have earned the right to live here. My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, in Viet Nam, and in  Desert Storm. We have pride and they can earn this pride, too.

I also believe that children born of illegal residents should not be given automatic citizenship. This is rewarding families for braking the law. Plus, this might discourage parents sneaking into the US so that their child will be a naturalized citizen.

It is tough love for our county and for the aliens.  We need to stand strong now, not later.

It's that way in most countries, if you are born in that country, then you are a citizen of that country.  I know this because I have some friends that are evangelists and 2 of the daughters are Honduranians just because they were born there.  The parents are both Americans and they had to apply for dual citizenship for their daughters at a U.S. Embassy because one of the daughters has cancer.  It's not just the U.S. that is that way.

I dont understand how everyone is making a fuss about this bill.  How is it benefiting you when they send people back to Mexico??? People don't think about the illegal people that have familys here and how it is going to affect the children of the people that get sent back to Mexico. I dont understand is it going to make you sleep better at night cuz you know that familys are getting ripped apart and that children are suffering from this. And as far as the KKK thing i think that is so stupid and they are trying to get attention and they are getting it by being on the news. And instead of them getting on the news they should do something about them trying to threaten people

The author of the state's immigration bill said Wednesday he will file legislation seeking to make English the official language in Oklahoma and to give law officers the right to seize assets, such as a vehicle or a home, when used to transport or house illegal immigrants.

Rep. Randy Terrill said the measure, which he dubbed "son of 1804 bill” in reference to his House Bill 1804 that won overwhelming approval in both chambers of the Legislature this year, also would require school districts to provide a more accurate accounting of how many children who are here illegally attend their schools.

Estimates are children who are here illegally cost the state's schools about $160 million a year, he said. He thinks the cost is much higher.

you saying your sorry for the aliens...they arent ufo's.also your saying we have to live by the law to make this a great country are you serious how many AMERICAN CITIZENS everyday break the law?? and are you saying you have never broke the law in any way?....and everyone is putting this specifically on mexicans i dont think all of oklahoma even america's problems can be pin pointed to mexicans...everyone is acting like mexicans are the biggest problem in oklahoma and i think that oklahoma has alot more serious issues

Not everyone feels like ssatan or whatever his name was.  I run into several people that are against this law.  I'm waiting to see what other group will file a law suit.  I know the Jewish people were helping by keeping track of why and how illegals were being arrested.

We are praying for the families of the one's that are trying so hard to get atleast a Visa.  There will be those that want nothing to do with us, so I say bye to those.  But I worry about the ones that do want to be part of this country.

Why can't we kick out the Americans that hate America and give that to an illegal that is willing to fight for our country.  Just a thought.

I agree that laws weren't meant to be broken and unlike the other user who commented that people break the law everyday, this still shouldn't be over looked. Laws are laws whether we like them or not, that’s the reason we vote and elect people to make those laws or change them.

Your opinion of this matter is fairly stated, it isn't biased nor one sided. I expected this forum to be flooded by ignorant, one sided, hill Billy, country folk, who could careless about taking the land of the Indians and claiming it as there own, only to see the offspring of a white supremacist race!  Oklahoma is pre-dominantly white Caucasian people, so coming into this forum, I expected radical, crazy ideas but much to my surprise, the turn out ratio isn’t just that. You however, seem like a nice patriotic person. Your heart is in the right place and that’s behind America, our beloved United States! The problem in my eyes is that we as Americans need someone to blame and we react franticly and don’t rationalize and come to our senses that immigration will always be an issue.

I definitely think that we should rewrite the book and enforce strict immigration laws, but for the ones we have here, we should have them accounted for and give them a chance to contribute to this fine state of Oklahoma and to the nation as a whole. We should allow the ones here a chance to become legalized and to go through a procedure and series of tests and things along those lines. It is very well said that, human nature is to fear what it does not understand therefore, it doesn’t strike me as a surprise that 1804 was passed, it doesn’t surprise me one bit! Again, we live in a dominate Caucasian society and quote unquote, “We don’t want to see another California or Texas”, yet when you talk about it, aren’t those the states that everybody brags about in regards as to how great they are? LOL, does none of this connect or go through people’s mind?

In conclusion, I’m against the bill 1804 (obviously) and I strongly believe that Oklahoma could have gone and done a better job of developing a better immigration Law. In my mind, Oklahoma took the easy way out which was to simply depart illegal aliens. Once again, it took a tragedy such as 9-11 to open people’s eyes and we lost more Americans out at war than we ever did on 9-11, how does that equal out? we focus now on securing our borders and deporting illegal aliens rather than focusing on the real issues, we as Americans need someone or something to blame, Look at America Vs. Hip Hop, we blame rap music instead of blaming the individuals who commit crimes (but that’s another story), why not blame the movie industry and the violent video games as well, no instead, we target Hip Hop. Apply that same concept to what we’re doing with Immigration, we simply need something or someone to blame, we need to do radical things in order to feel safe at night when we sleep. illegal aliens or better yet Latinos didn’t crash the planes through the twin towers, it was legalized middle eastern folk, I AGREE THAT WE NEED TO DEVELOP AND FOCUS AND ENFORCE OUR LAWS BUT THIS IS SURELY A BETTER WAY TO DO IT AND THIS SURE AS HELL AINT THE RIGHT WAY TO GO ABOUT IT!

Feeling sorry for peoples pain is one thing. Ignoring that they put themselves in this situation is not responsible or patriotic. We need to get control of the problem that is hurting us. We have that right and responsibility for the future.You can't  stick your head in the sand and hope things will get better.. They won't by themselves..............

to say that ignoring the fact they put theirself in the situation...my husband is from mexico and we have a daughter and he didnt PUT his self in the situation we fell in love and got married ......and what are you trying to say people are not being responsible  or partiotic ???? and someways i can see how it could hurt us but then i can see where people come here from mexico to try to make a living for their family and it is almost impossible to get a greencard or even a visa in mexico unless you have money....so its not as easy as alot of people think...and i think the whole issue is all about money and taxes and i know alot of people that dont have a visa that pay taxes.....and im not sticking my head in the sand im am and will do something to make sure my family isnt broken apart!!!!!!!!!! and i keep looking at how you say ignoring the fact that they put themselves in the situation isnt responsible .......you know if you were born in a poor country and had kids and it was almost impossible to feed you kids would you do something or would you just sit on your behind and do nothing about it?????? people take advantage of the fact here in america we have ALOT that alot of people would love to have food to eat running water alot of things people want for their family but when they actually try to go somewhere and try to help their family they get treated like they are UFO'S.....

Good old Owasso High

Hispanic students were offended by the comment and asked school officials to take action. They initially protested before school on Friday, then during fifth hour and after school. The demonstration was peaceful in nature. Owasso police were on hand as a precaution.

"Their concern is there was nothing being done about it," Huggins said Friday afternoon, just after students had refused to go to fifth hour class around 1:30 p.m.

Hispanic students from the high school joined the Mid-High students to protest, Huggins and Herriman were able to persuade the students to return to class.

Students gathered after school to show their signs off to parents who were picking up their children.

"It caught us cold, totally off guard," said Dr. Clark Ogilvie, superintendent. "Certainly, if these students have a perceived grievance we will be glad to talk with them."

The principals will meet with students on Monday to hear their complaints.

When HB 1804 went into effect on Nov. 1, making it illegal to transport any one who is in the United States illegally.

"There is tension over HB 1804," Huggins said. "Someone, I don't know who, said 'Why are you still here?' They are on edge."

Students heard someone say "They need to go back to Mexico. They all got upset," said Gloria Romero, a school translator. "Because they are legal. These students were born in California and here."

"They have some legitimate concerns," Huggins said. "And that's what I want to hear."

Owasso Public Schools has about 4 to 5 percent students who are Hispanic, according to Ogilvie.

Maria Aguilera, Brenda Montecortez and Samantha Rubio, all sophomores, believe they have been treated differently since HB 1804 went into effect.

"The teachers are treating us differently," said Montecortez. "They are asking if we a illegal."

Ogilvie said the district's policy is not to ask the status of its students.

Montecortez said some student have also made comments about a cartoon making fun of HB 1804 that was highly offensive.
