    1804

I feel for the family's that will be affected by 1804,but if they wish to stay in this country then they should do everything they can to be legal.I don't feel that they really want to be here, otherwise they would not be trying to turn us into mexico.I think instead of  trying to turn us into mexico, they should stay there, and turn mexico into whatever it is that makes the US so appealing to them.lisa06

    Re: 1804

Huh? You are right they should have done everything they could have to become legal, but, lets not just point our fingers at these people. Do you not remember the trophy president, Ronald Reagan, opening the borders and telling these people to come work here because the people already here won't take these jobs. I DO! They are not trying to turn us into Mexico, they want to have a better life. And as far as turning Mexico into what makes US so appealing, maybe if the US companies that are there would pay them more  maybe something could be done. I just can't see how its all there faults when these things from the The Great United States is part to blame. Is there no more human compassion in this world or is it only during a tragedy that we remember we are suppose to treat every one as we would want to be treated.

    Re: 1804

Perhpas if the mexican government would stand up to these companies and force them (via some sort of union or laws) to pay a fair wage to the employees, so many people would not be wanting to leave that country.  The corporations only move to other countries because their profit margin is higher since they can legally pay lower wages.

If they are not turning us into mexico, then whats with the mexican market places.I tried to go pay a bill at a pay station, and it was an indoor mexican strip mall,it looked and sounded just like old mexico.I also remember when spanish was an elective in jr. high, now it is being forced upon my kindergarteners. They would have a fit if we were to move over there and never learn spanish, and bring everything that makes us american with us,plus all the money they make over here they send back home to boost their economy,I understand the family, but their not becoming citizens and giving back to this economy and country which is where they supposedly want to be.I am not saying loose the heritage just don't come here and live seperate from us,and expect us to deal with you.

    Re: 1804

Just because people from other countries bring their own culture here does NOT mean they are trying to turn this country into Mexico. Are we so closed minded that we can't learn from the different cultures? You walk around hating and it spreads like wild fires. Is it hurting our children to maybe learn a 2nd language? This only helps our children to be more educated not only in our {American} waysbut also the hispanic ways. They can receive better pay knowing Spanish and English and the most important of all, understanding the world in general knowing that everything and everyone is not the same.

psp23....what do you think Mexico would do to an illegal immigrant that came in to their country?  Better check it out before you start blaming the US for Mexico's problems.

“If they are not turning us into mexico, then whats with the mexican market places.”

Ok, most moronic statement ever. Not only does it make the person who wrote it look close minded as hell, it doesn’t make any sense at all.  When they subsidize an apartment complex do you say they are making Tulsa ghetto? If three bars open up two miles apart are they making all of Tulsa a bar? If they hire more than three people of the same race at your job are you going to become that nationality? I assume of course you have checked your family history and are “pure” to your nationality. You forgot to mention the Vietnamese market places. Eat any egg rolls lately?

thank you Tega! I love that I can get true mexican items here in  Tulsa.  15 years ago--there was nothing for us, you couldn't get any true Mexican ingredients, and Taco Bueno was the best Mexican restaurant.  one more thing, don't these business contribute to Tulsa and Oklahomas economy?

I have been to the little mini Latino mall mentioned.

The food is great and the people friendly....

However this in not the problem or the issue....

Again I state what would you do if someone came in your house uninvited and decided to stay????

    Grin and bare it?

    Re: 1804

The operative word here, is "legal".   I have no problem with anyone wanting to enter the country and legally acquire citizenship.   However, when people come into this country illegally and then complain about laws designed to keep illegal individuals from entering the country, makes no sense at all.  If they are unwilling to be here legally, what does that say about being lawabiding if and when they actually do become legal.   The issue is not racism, or "picking" on a particular nationality.  It is an issue of individuals LEGALLY obtaining their citizenship.

    Re: 1804

I agree Teach.... let me tell you what really scares me about this whole thing. You've got church leaders telling them to "watch out" for the police and so forth. Almost making it look like it's ok to go up against law enforcement. That's riot causing type leadership and it's just all kinds of wrong. I see this thing getting way out of hand. Someone better get a hold of the these church leaders before Tulsa has a jalapeno flavored race riot. Didn't we learn the first time?

    Re: 1804

Smile Lets not take the blame for anything. So much easier that way. How many times have you been kicked out of Mexico? Sounds like you are speaking with authority on this so how many times? Look, I don't want to point fingers at anyone because its not one persons fault or problem. It belongs to all of us because the United States is involved.
