Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
I think the bill is a good thing if it would only target the trouble makers. I know breaking the law is making trouble but the illegals are already here and made homes and families. My husband is hispanic and he became legal 4 years ago. His aunt, uncle, and two cousins were deported since they were not legal. They made the youngest son stay here with other family since he was legal. Now he is here without his parents and brother. What if the other family members where not legal and couldn't keep the little boy? He would get turned over to the state. They should not split up families like that. I would work best if they would just send back the ones that are robbing businesses, selling drugs, starting fights, shootings, the ones that are really doing something wrong. I know illegals being here is wrong but some of them have been here most of their lives. I know if they have been here then why don't they get legal? I don't know I can't answer that for everyone. I know the law makes it so difficult to get legal. When I checked into it for my husband it was he has to be here for 10 years and be able to prove it, have children that are citizens, be married for 3 or more years to a citizen, its just alot of trouble to get throught the process and it costs alot of money. If illegals have been here for a certain amount of time without causing problems they should make them legal. But thats just my opinion. I know someone will have a problem with it.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
I understand the government assistance. My husband works (he is hispanic and legal) and I am a stay at home mother. The state says that he makes too much money for us to get food stamps, insurance for the kids, and daycare. If I work it all goes towards the daycare so whats the point. But there are illegals out there who I don't know how, can get those things that I can't and that makes me mad. Why is it I am trying to do right but the state won't help me but they will the illegals. I agree that they shouldn't send them back just because they are here but they should send back the trouble makers.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
What tree did this guy fall out of????? I really don't know why I am replying to this except the comment is so outrageous.......
It has nothing to do with illegal aliens breaking the law and coming here.....
Oh, now I remember what I was going to comment on.. This catholic Bishop is not correct. We understand exactly what he is saying that he will do... We don't approve of him or his threatened actions.. I for one hope they have the courage to put him in jail if he breaks the law... People like him are considered accomplices to the law breakers and deserve the same treatment.............

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
Just remember these people put themselves in this position, no one put a gun to their head and forced them across the U.S. border.........
Being here for a long time doesn't justify their illegal entry into our country...
We have immigration laws in this country for a reason. Millions of underpriviliged people across the planet would love to live here.. That is not possible....... The fact that we have not been as strict as we should have enforcing our laws doesn't mean we can not correct this mistake...
I hardship occurs for law breakers and their family it is their own fault not ours!!!!!!!!!

You said: "They should not split up families like that." ... referring to the law splitting up families.
You also said: " His aunt, uncle, and two cousins were deported since they were not legal. They made the youngest son stay here with other family since he was legal."
Point: The law did not split up this family, the childs aunt, uncle, two cousins who made the youngest son stay here with other family is who split up this family.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
Against popular belief these people do care about their kids education. I've known a few families who leave their kids behind for a few months only so they can finish off the school year. Talk to any kid who has been here for 10 years to see if they want to go back to poverty-where the probably won't even go to school-of course they will say no. they feel like America is their home.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
The largest majority of the citizens in the U.S may be descendents of immigrants, but the point here is the legality. This bill is directed at ILLEGAL immigrants, not the people who choose to follow the avenues to become legal, just those who live here illegally.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
There appears to be so much confusion in regards to HB 1804. This law was created, to protect our state against illegal aliens. Fine. The issue here in Tulsa is the majority of the aliens are Hispanic. What everyone is failing take notice is in regards to what we need to do to prevent this from turning into a race riot.
I have read all of the entries and the majorities here are not valid responses to the law. It appears most are pointing fingers at the Hispanic race. I am not in agreement with anyone regardless of race taking advantage of our Government system. How many people do you know that are currently on welfare, because it is easier to get a check from the government and get food stamps to eat than get a job? How many times have you gone to the grocery store at the first of the month and see people shopping with their baskets and (I mean baskets) so full with food that you or I could not spend in one shopping trip? Guess what the majority of these people are not Hispanics. In fact, I see most Hispanics paying for their items in cash. I see them driving around in new vehicles. Am I wrong to assume that this is hurting our economy? I have heard stories of these illegal aliens working two and sometimes 3 jobs to support their families. How many of YOU can say you have done this instead of seeking out the assistance of our so-called legal society?
Are you aware that these illegal aliens are paying taxes at their jobs and on all their purchases? Did you ever think about where that money goes? How many unclaimed checks do companies keep because an illegal alien was deported?
Most everyone wants to point a finger at the "Mexicans" when in reality we should be cleaning our own houses and not point fingers at the unknown.

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
sly1A:
You have no right to be here!!!! You cannot take this country as your own - you are not a citizen of this country and you have not been invited via the proper channels and trying to steal it...too many others have and are trying to follow America's Rule of Law and this slap in the face and this concept that America and American's owe illegals anything is disgusting!!!
You cannot spell, write or speak proper English either-and you will not change this country because you think you have been wronged. The American people have a say in what happens in this country - not special interest groups, socio-ethnic interest groups or corporations for that matter and we are taking our country back!!!!
Your statement was uncalled for: You cannot spell, write or speak proper English.. So many American's cannot spell, write or speak proper English either. Ball players that became famous cannot read, since they made money for their schools, they could pass on to the next grade. Look at how many American's on these posts that cannot use proper English either. Your statement was a bit rasist. I don't always use proper English, at times I make errors in speach and spelling, so do others, get my point? (cricket)

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
First I want to say: How do most of you find the time to post? I'm doing it right now since my husband left to work, has a 2 hour drive to his job site.
I hate going to the store the 1st of the month. Why? Welfare time. I have seen well dressed persons and trashy ones too. I would say that its very rare that I see a Hispanic paying with the blue card. I'm not saying they don't, but I've seen it in mixed couples. Most of the time the man is the Hispanic one.
I do most of my shopping at the Wal-mart on admiral. Yeah I get the looks, another illegal on welfare. Well, wrong! Proud not to be on welfare. I'm married to a Mexican that is legal. I wanted him to take vacations next month to do his citezenship. Well his company is buying out his vacations, so his 2 weeks will be paid extra. Sounds good extra money, but no extra time to do his citizenship or spend time with his boys. This is one reason why some residents don't get citizenship right away.
US CITIZEN wrote that some illegals pay taxes. They do they pay Fed taxes, I don't know if SS taxes since I'm not in the tax business. The ones that pay do it thru what the IRS call a TIN#. IRS gives them the # since they want the money. Some say our schools are over burden with illegals. Most illegals with kids buy homes and thru their homes they pay taxes that go to the school. Some of them send their kids to private school.
I think the schools over do it on Hispanic kids. Why? When I enrolled him in pre-k, I was really upset that they had a translater for us. They saw my last name and assumed I didn't know English. I was more upset since my son had been in that school for kindergarden and my teen had been there also. Ok so I tell him, Manuelito doesn't speak much Spanish, they still gave him a test, in Spanish. They gave me forms in Spanish and I had a heck of a time filling them out. I know how to read and write and speak in Spanish, but I prefer English. So Manuelito is in 1st grade and he needs a tutor, according to them he doesn't speak proper English, well he doesn't speak proper Spanish. The school had me sign a waiver that it was ok that they didnt have a bilingual teacher. Something to do with no kid left behind. Not once did I demand this from his school. Actually, I was upset over not speaking proper English. Who does now a day?
Anyways our system is all screwed up and we just like to blame the illegals. For us that are brown and speak Spanish or another language even if we are Americans, wont make a difference. There is no way of telling if I'm legal or not by looking at me. I was born in South Texas and everyone speaks Spanish. {Oh and if you go into the border town in Mexico, all the shop workers speak English for us Americans} Puertoricans speak Spanish and they are Americans. So this only illegals speak Spanish is not correct.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if every American could speak 2 languages. No it doesn't have to be Spanish, but think about it. Most Europeans speak more than one language.
Well my time is up. Hope to have time during regular normal hours like some of you guys. Yes I'm jelouse

Re: State Law 1804 (Immigration Bill)
WOW! I have read most of the threads on the 1804 bill. I must say I have seen some pretty dumb comments on the issue.
It is simple. Are you OBEYING laws, or are you BREAKING laws? Next Issue. Are you ABOVE the law, or should you suffer PUNISHMENT for breaking the law?
Apparently some people feel they can break the law because they feel there above it.
By
crossing any border illegally, you have broken laws in BOTH countries.
So since you feel the right to break International, Country and state
laws, Please, do not preach on how good and proud you are.
Anything else is a mute point.
The law is not saying, "Let's round up every Illegal and let President Calderen sort them out".
What it is saying is, "If you get caught doing something stupid your going home".
But as a very dear friend said to me, "I came from Korea, but I joined the U.S. Military to prove I am an American".
Want
a U.S. Job? The Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines and Coast Guard are
looking for people. Do a four to six year stint and then I will fight
along side of you to be an AMERICAN.
This has nothing to do with race. Ask the border patrol how much property damage and thefts they have of Patriotic Illegals crossing our borders.
Who pays for the damages when Illegals kill or injure our people Illegally or accidentley? Who pays for there healthcare, Police protection, social services?
Personally, I am sick and tired of people coming to the USA because there country is "So bad", then having the *&%*&%*%^ nerve to say How great there country is, try to change OUR laws, OUR way of life and everything else. Do it in YOUR OWN COUNTRY. CHANGE YOUR LAWS, YOUR WAY OF LIFE NOT OURS. You need to stop spitting our faces.
Now before the whine babies come out, I have Mexican friends, I am proud to call them a friend. But they are not squating on U.S.A soil saying how much better there country is.
I am from NEW YORK, born and bred, but I can tell you right now, I would have no business what so ever bad mouthing the great state of Oklahoma as now that I live here and I, because "I" am an outsider, have the smarts enough to know to assimilate to Oklahoma's way but keep my N.Y. pride to. I didn't come here to change Oklahoma, I came here to live.
If you can't do it, don't like there laws or way of life, I know many Oklahomans that will drive you to the border for free.
So please, If your here illegally, quit whining, we're all tired of it.
