Just how much exercise does it take before you see results?

I've been exercising for all of last year, rebounding on a trampoline.  Jogging, or less, in place.  It seems to have benefited my stamina, helped my lung capacity, and firmed up various parts of my body.  This year I joined a gym in January and have been doing the treadmill 3 to 4 times a week, plus some of the weights.  I found out yesterday that I've lost 6 pounds since I began the workouts at the gym.  I'm wondering if that is a good amount to lose in the 6 weeks I've been at the gym, or if it's not enough for the time I've been working out?  Anyone know?

hi...yes, everyone loses weight differantly & i believe exercising is the easiest way to lose weight...it didn't sound like you were so much concentrating on losing weight as you were the physical fitness of your body, so you lost weight naturally & that is always the best way...great job jd !!!

Honestly, it depends on what dr you got to. Some say a couple pounds a week, some say a couple a month.

It does sound like your going to hit a leveling off point though. This is where your body stops burning off the fat and you actually start producing muscle. So the weight loss will stop for a bit, then increase again.

Thanks!  :)  I tell ya.. after I found out I actually lost 6 pounds, I found myself not minding so much the struggle of the extra 10 minutes I talked myself into while I was on the treadmill. To me, 6 pounds doesn't really sound like much compared to the 6+ weeks I've been working at it, but it's the first time anything I've tried has seen any real weight loss at all.  I reckon "moving it", works.  I also figured that anything I would do as far as exercise was more than I had been doing previously, so it had to be beneficial in some way. LOL

Well.. I haven't run out of fat to burn yet, so hopefully I can burn all of it before I start producing much muscle!! LOL  I'm guessing that isn't going to happen that way, though, but my concelation is that muscle burns more calories than fat!

hi...muscle weighs more than fat too, so don't feel discouraged if at some point you do lose at a slower rate, just keep up the workouts & know you are going in the right direction...
