    Gas versus electric

When we first bought our home 5 years ago we used gas for just about everything.  I was having to fill the tank up about 3-4 times a year.  It was very expensive to fill up.  Plus we still had an electric bill for the lights and things not using gas.  (basically the water and heat where gas, everything else was electric.)  I called the gas company because I was smelling something and come to find out, we where lucky to be alive.  There was a leak under our home and if it had any spark it could have ignited.  That scared me enough to have my husband (an electrician) make everything in the home electric and I called the gas company to come get that ugly tank out of my yard.  Since then (3 years ago) I have never had an electric bill over 180 bucks in the hottest of days. (2000 square foot home)  So to me it is much cheaper.  We have the security of a generator if the electricity does go out (almost 30 days last December) and I only have one bill to pay and never have to worry about running out of gas in the tank and having to wait on some wierd guy to come to my home and fill the thing up.  And I do not have to worry about gas leaks,  That in itself is worth any extra people may think I am paying.  But I have proof that gas was more for me.  So in my opinion, electric is the way to go.
