    swimming workout

Sarah and I went to the Health Zone to do some swim practrice before she has tryouts in a week.

First of all, when we walk in there is a poster of us standing on an easel right in the entry way.  Wasn't expecting that.  We were there when they took the picture, but I thought it would be at the Heart Walk.  Lucy wasn't happy on the day of the picture.  I am virtually holding her head up in the shot.

Back to the work out.  Neither one of us has been in the water for some serious swimming in a while (years).  Remembering the strokes was the easy part.  Getting into the water was not pleasant at first.  The lap pool was probably about 86 degrees.  We stayed for two hours, working on various things:  breathing, speed, technique, flip turns.

When we came home, I crashed!  Slept like a baby.  When I woke, Sarah told me she was sore ALL OVER!  I reminded her that we were going back tomorrow!  She was very dedicated and a great worker.  If she continues to practice like she did today, finding a spot on the team will be a piece of cake.

Day 2...Slept like a baby again! I thought Sarah was the one who was working ouut?  She is, and I get the benefit of working out with her.

    Re: swimming workout

Today was the last day before tryouts.  Took my brother-in-law with me, since he has actually been on a swim team and has swam competitively (15 years ago, but still).

He helped Sarah with some improvements in her stroke and worked with her on that flip turn.  She made some improvements.  Cross your fingers for the tryouts.

Since he was there, I took the opportunity to work on myself.  I didn't quite get in a mile, but it was exhilerating to be able to just swim.
