I do not think they should get free medicare for their pregnancy.  I am a citizen and my husband is mexican and he is legal.  DHS is who I went through with both of my children but now when I go to get help from DHS they say that we make too much money.  I am a stay at home mother and we make too much money.  I don't think so.  But if I go to work it would basically only pay for daycare.  Whats the point.  My husband aunt and uncle and two cousins were deported a couple weeks ago and the youngest son is a citizen since he was born here.  They made the mother, father, and two older brother go back to mexico while the youngest boy stays here with family.  I don't think they should split up families like that.  I think the ICE should send back the trouble makers and let the hard working ones stay.  I know the guys in my family would not stay out in the heat or the cold to build the houses or work on the highways.  The mexicans are the ones who don't mind doing that or being in a restaurant cooking.  I know I wouldn't do it because people like me, think they are too good for that.  I just don't agree with giving them free things if I can't even get help.  I think they should send back the trouble makers and the drug dealers.  We don't go after the canadians who come over here illegal so why should we go after the mexicans?

The lawsuit was presented (filed) Friday to the U.S. Federal Court and Monday at 2:00p.m. was a conference concerning the lawsuit, of course the judge hasn't ruled on it yet, he just received it, but it was issued, that is challenging Oklahoma's immigration law. Also, a reporter with the Bureau of National Affairs in the Washington, D.C.,area, is interested in the press conference that was held Friday annoncing a lawsuit., they also requested futher information which I won't put on here. I know this for a fact since I was notified by e-mail today. Marlin, you hit the nail on the head.  If we could remedy that problem we would be a much stronger country.

    JRStone:

We're talking about Illegal Immigrants and Prenatal Care this morning.  Governor Henry says he will sign a new policy.  The policy would give free prenatal health care to all illegal immigrants.  How do you feel about this?  If the policy went into place taxpayers would get the bill.  Do you agree with this?  There are currently 12 states that have this policy in place.  Some experts say it will save the state money while others disagree.  Leave a comment and let us know how you feel.

I understand that sometime people need help, but what does the word illegal mean here, because I'm not understanding  this when we are having to pay for someones health care that is not suppose to be here in the first place, we are suppose to have a system set up to come into this country, so why is this not being followed, if you sell drugs that's illegal, you go to jail, if you are catch speeding at a high rate of speed that is illegal and you go to jail, if you break into someones house & steal that is illegal and you go to jail, so why is it when someone is here illegally are we being bashed for thinking they should go home & why would we opt to pay for their medical expenses,  when there are people in the US that can't afford to pay for health insurance on their own, not because they don't want to but can't afford it. Our Son did not have health insurance, and had his appendix burst causing a great deal of pain and therefore a trip to the, ER and a hospital stay of 3 days costing over 24K, between they stay & doctors bills,  the hospital threated to ruin his credit if he didn't pay, so he had to take out a loan to pay this over rated bill to save his credit. This is a sad day, and I don't have any faith in this turning around our lawmakers promise the stars but do not deliver, to much red tape and maybe offending someone in the process, I was born in the US where is my free health care benefits?  Thanks Georgia

What I was getting at, is no one can stop 1804 from going into effect on Nov 1st. The time for activist trying to get it blocked in Federal Court has run out. That activist who was in town this weekend (think his name was Rivera or something, the guy that thinks Okla is trying to genocide Hispanics) has been waiting for a Liberal Judge to take his case but had to take a Conservative Judge instead, who by the way is from Okla and is also ex-military.

It's a done deal, 1804 will be going into effect on Nov 1st.

Marlin: 1804 will go into effect, but it won't be as bad as what has been said. A Conservative Judge still has to do his job, not by how he feels inside. As an ex- military person, he will know that so many illegal Mexicans has died in our wars, after serving in the service, some were made legal, especially if they served during war time. We all just need to wait and see what really happens on November !st. 2007. Tulsa doesn't have the man power or jail facilities to handle all the illegals..9cricket)

I would like to agree with you, and thank you for speaking out I feel the same way. My husband was born in Mexico and we always have to watch our back here in Tulsa, because racism is bad . And it's hard to think about whats going to happen when one day my husband, and the father of our two sons will not return home from work, just because of his status.Sometimes I cry because anywhere I go for help to legalize his papers, theres no hope.Nobody relizes that they are human just like anyone else, and have families and needs , and just are trying their best just to work and live life like me and you .

How's that any different than robbing a bank and getting caught, then being able to keep the money, no prison time and given welfare support?

There are ways for people to work in our country legally who aren't residents. When one chooses an illegal path instead, they must accept the consequences for doing so.

By the way, breaking the law has nothing to do with racism.

Marlin, I don't think fullbloodcreek was referring to the legality of the race, and it is a race issue, since the Indians and Blacks went threw the same situations of treatment. If the news and people referred to immigrants as a variety of immigrants then it wouldn't be a race issue, but you always here MEXICAN, MEXICAN as illegal, that makes it a race since they are being singled out as the only illegal race in Oklahoma and on these threads, you rarely here that another race is illegal, unless someone is defending the Mexicans. Close the borders so the Mexicans can't come here. Why not tell the Iraqs and Germans to leave and all these dirty convenience stores, some of them aren't legal, and they aren't Mexicans. God made the universe, but man made the laws, and some weren't even here before Columbus was, but the Mexicans were here and so was the Spaniards, along with the Indians and Pilgrims, I should know this due to my family. Indians were already here and the Blacks were brought here against their will, that's a huge difference to illegal immigrants.

btw....I was at the Pro Mexican American Rally here in Tulsa several years ago. And the Hispanic leaders were telling their people that the illegals need to get legal. And if you were there you would of seen that almost all of the many thousands of hispanics that were there were in agreement. I saw two Mexican flags in that intire rally and 1000's of American flags being waved. So I'm not buying into the Hispanic community here in Tulsa being supportive of the illegal immigrants here as a whole.

Also, Bill 1804 targets all illegal immigrants and not just Hispanics. Saying that, how does one deport an Asian or Russian.....it's not like driving them to the border? And because of that I can see were Hispanics may be deported more, along with the fact there's more of them.

The Democrats would probably send them home on either a Luxury Liner or in first class on an Air Plane. The Republicans would probably send them back on a C130 with a parachute. lol

    Re: Illegal Immigrants

Just to add some other feelings I have on this subject, I think that Oklahoma needs to get it together. First of all, I am tired of these ridiculous bills, and taxes that they are trying to pass, when they are completely useless in my opinion. I mean, how is this going to really benefit us in the long run? For example, passing a bill to give immigrants health care when there is no bill in effect for U.S citizens to receive proper health care. I don't care if it is just pre-natal care, that tax money could be spent to help our senior citizens get medicine. It could also provide treatment programs and resources to people like me with hepatitis c. I did not contract this disease from injecting drugs, but from making the mistake of getting a few tattoos when I was 17 years old. I was in denial about the reality of having this disease and how serious it was until about 2 years ago when it started becoming a problem for me and I started to become ill frequently. I went to a doctor that charged me based on my income, but I still could not afford treatment. Since then I have called so many places seeking assistance and health care. I even called the health department. The FREAKIN' health department!! and they told me they dont treat hepatitis c and couldnt even refer me to anywhere in Oklahoma that could. Why not use the money to start a program for something like that. I researched the center for disease control website, and only 18 states have a treatment program for hepatitis c patients. It lists the state plan for prevention and the action they are taking to deal with this problem, and I cant believe that this is not something Oklahoma is trying to pass, instead of worrying about health care for non citizens, and a river tax that I was not for either. I bet if you put a tax increase for better health care for Oklahomans there wouldnt be so much of an enormous opposition to it like there was with the river tax. Yeah, lets pay all this money for the development of the river, you mean, like the development thats in progress on our roads and highways please!! Yeah, like that plan was really going to make it, the first thing they need to do is get rid of all the plants and factories that are along the river that dump their waste into it. I have read so many posts on this site where many people are acting like this is a race thing and its not. Go over to their countries and see how their government and people treat you. We have to have a passport to enter foreign countries and they still dont roll out the red carpet for you like we do for them. You are naive to think that illegal immigrants do more good than harm here. For example, all the issues we are having with identity theft, most of that is due to illegals stealing that info to forge documents to work. Some of you are complaining that they work so hard and pay taxes and never get that money back- well thats hard to do when you are paying those taxes and working with someone elses social security number. They shouldnt be working here at all unless they did it the legal way by entering with a work visa or green card. And many of the immigrants here illegally are sending that money right back to Mexico to help bring more people over illegally. And the ones that arent working are selling drugs, committing crime, and becoming a burden to our society. The majority of the illegal drugs in Tulsa right now are coming from Mexico, and if you are ever in the courthouse downtown the majority of the people in the courtroom are hispanic and are there on multiple traffic violations. So there again they are causing more harm by making our streets dangerous to drive on because they are operating motor vehicles without a license or insurance or other violations. Yeah U.S citizens are guilty of this too but just walk into the courthouse and see the ratio of  Americans to hispanics and you will realize what I am talking about. Some of you think that opposing illegal immigration is because of racism but its not, I have been married to a Mexican, and I am currently married to a man that is native American. My husband that was from Mexico was here illegally, and I got to see first hand the problems that it causes and when he got deported I went with him, and also got to experience the way they treat us in their country and after a few months that was enough for me, and I came back. I have no problems with giving legal immigrants health care and government assistance, education and job training, etc... but I dont think it is fair to just give these resources to one particular race or minority, but it should be available to ALL LEGAL US CITIZENS!!!! Regardless of race , I believe that if you abide by the law and rules the government have in place then the law and government should stand by its people and help them rise up together and build a better society by making these things available for us to utilize, not abuse , so we can get ahead by programs and tools that our government can offer to become better people.  If you dont abide by those same laws that are in place for a reason, then yeah I dont want to help anyone who has no regards to our laws and can come here and make it easy for them by allowing them access to our resources intended for those who have to work for those rights. If you dont come here legally, then you are not a US citizen, therefore you should not be allowed the rigthts that American citizens have. And for those of you that can't understand that, and are so naive and ignorant to act like this is a race thing, well maybe you should get deported with them. Go see what their government does for you, whether you are there legitimately or not. If this was a race thing than even those that are here legally wouldnt be getting the assistance and support of our country, but they get this easier than natural US citizens do, and I just feel that ALL citizens be treated equally, and stop with the special treatment just because of being considered a minority, there should be no labeling of citizens as a minority. Either you are a citizen or your not, and for those that are not-- hit the road!!!!!!
