27th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll – Dec. 6
(July 29, 2009 – Troy, NY) -- The Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce announces the 27th Annual Troy Victorian Stroll scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2009.
One of the Northeast’s premier free holiday events, the Stroll attracts more than 20,000 people to the Victorian splendor of historic downtown Troy and offers over 100 attractions. Live music, dancing, storytelling, theatre, costumed performers and more are set against a backdrop of unique shops, storefronts and restaurants, bringing the streets alive with Victorian holiday magic.
Scheduled from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm, the Stroll concludes at 5:00 PM when Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian and Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce President, Linda Hillman will throw the switch on a dazzling new display, "A Celebration of Lights," that will grace Monument Square directly across from City Hall. The lighted display is intended to create a symbol of the holiday spirit shining brightly as it surrounds the Troy Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, which was dedicated in Sept. 1981 and stands 90 feet tall. The event is administered by the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce with operational support provided by the City of Troy. Admission is free.
